What is a nectar collector?

You’ve probably seen them at your local bud shop or online head shop – these strange looking devices allow you to sip vapor from cannabis concentrates (wax, budder, splinters, etc) like a straw. your name is Nectar collectorand this unique attitude dab rigs Since its inception in 2011, swabbing on the go had exceeded its limits long before anyone had ever heard of an e-rig or electric swab. These vertical evaporator tubes are designed to be used upright and their convenience and ease of use made them an instant hit. They can be made from quartz, glass, titanium, and sometimes even contain silicone.

The very first Nectar Collector inspired a whole wave of similar devices, sometimes with names like swab straw, honey straw, and the like. Over the years, these cool vaping tubes have created an enviable niche in the world of dabbing.

The most common name people use to describe these is Nectar Collectors, which basically covers any vertical vaporizer. However, this is actually wrong.

Nectar Collectors were originally made by the glass artist Kristian Merwin, who carried the design as a trademark. They’ve become like Kleenex for handkerchiefs or hover for vacuum cleaners, and the term nectar collector has become synonymous with any kind of blob. The name itself comes from the long tip shaped like a hummingbird’s beak as it dips into the flower and soaks up the nourishing, tasty nectar hidden within.

How does a nectar collector work?

The uniqueness of the nectar collector is that instead of putting a dab on the surface of a nail or beater, you put hot tips on a small pile of concentrate in your bowl.

To prepare your swab, you can add any amount of wax to the bowl. You can take the dish and your nectar collector with you for the weekend. When I do that, I often pack a gram to enjoy over the weekend.

  • Put wax, oil, distillate or another concentrate in glass, quartz or silicone bowls. Heat the tip of the nectar collector with a butane burner until it is hot.
  • Let the nectar collector cool down to the desired temperature.
  • Vaporize the wax or concentrate by touching it with the hot tip of the nectar collector.
  • Suck on the cold end of the nectar collector like a straw and inhale gently.

Electric nectar collectors

This type of product is different from Vape Pens and has gained interest in recent years. The nectar collector evaporates in a unique way since you don’t put wax into a chamber like you do with a vape pen. The nectar collector draws the heating element directly onto the concentrate. They’re lighter and smaller than swabs, so you can take them with you and vape anywhere. They’re also much cheaper than swabs, which cost a small fraction of the price.

Pros and cons of using a nectar collector

advantages

Uniqueness – The novel design of the nectar collector will always attract people’s attention.

Design – Cleaning is easy as you can disassemble it. It’s also travel-friendly due to its small compact size in terms of carting around bubblers or swabs.

Portable – you can take the swab with you wherever you go and it’s easy to use. This makes it an ideal daily swab for on the go.

Fully Equipped – No Tools Required; Just a flashlight to heat up, then dab off the concentrate and enjoy. It’s quick and easy to use, and will allow you to start dabbing in minutes.

Versatile – You can use nectar collectors to vape slivers, wax, rosin, budder, THC oil, CBD oil, and indeed almost any type of concentrate.

disadvantage

Multiple Components – If not properly secured, components can loosen and fall to the floor, shattering. We don’t want this to happen.

Expert tip: You can use a clamp clip to hold your glass attachments together.

Long and unwieldy – The long shape can be a bit unwieldy, especially if you walk around and part the nectar collector when it has a glowing tip.

Lack of Temperature Control – Although you can find electronic nail adapters and heating coils that can be used with the Nectar Collector, traditional heating and cooling methods make it difficult to reach standard temperature every time. In order to find the best location and handle temperature fluctuations, you need to learn and experiment.

How to clean a nectar collector

To clean the nectar collector you will need:

  • Torch (tip)
  • Your preferred cleaning solution or alcohol above 95%
  • A cup or glass of water
  • Ziplock bags
  • Hot water

This is the method used to clean your nectar collector.

  1. Remove the suction head, blow through the mouthpiece and pour out the water.
  2. Fill the chamber with alcohol or a cleaning solution of your choice. Support it vertically in a cup or glass of water. Leave on for an hour. If it’s really dirty, do it all night.
  3. Put the suction head in a ziplock bag and let it soak for 1 hour.
  4. Then rinse with hot water until the water runs clear. Be sure to remove alcohol or cleaning solution from the nectar collector.
  5. If you have a silicone nectar collector, you’ll need to remove the lid and store it in the refrigerator for about five hours or overnight.
  6. Remove and the reclaim should then be easy to remove.

If you have an especially dirty nectar collector that’s coated in debris, the first thing you should do is clean it with a burner. Starting from the mouthpiece end of the nectar collector, use the butane burner and slowly warm it up. When you heat it, the recovery melts and slowly runs over the glass to the top. You may have to wait halfway for the top to cool before you can continue this method in the bottom half of the unit. Be sure to put a tub underneath to capture the recovery as it runs out of the tip.
