Bring your old, parched weeds back to life
One of the saddest things that can happen to someone is rolling a joint only to find out their stash has run dry.
There are two main reasons weeds get dry: either they get overdried after harvest or they haven’t been properly stored. If you cut your weeds to prepare them to dry, the stems will soon lose their stiffness. The best way to tell if it has dried properly is if you can tear a stem in half. However, if the stem bends further, it will require more drying time.
However, if you live in arid climates, you may need a humidifier.
When it comes to storage, there are many common mistakes beginners often make that will cause their weeds to dry out or become brittle. These are: cooling or freezing, exposure to too much moisture and high temperatures.
But when faced with dried out weeds, don’t worry. We’re here to help before you decide to toss that dry shot away. Before we start, just remember that you shouldn’t smoke a crumbly, dry pot – it’s extremely hard on your throat and will hurt your lungs as well. Not to mention the terrible taste.
Why should you rehydrate your weeds? Well, in most places, buying weeds isn’t cheap. If you get rid of your stash because it’s pretty dry, you’re throwing money away. But nobody wants to smoke parched weed, although the good news is that rehydrating your camp is simple, easy, and not labor intensive, so you can do it yourself.
Rehydrate your dry stash
Since your weeds are dry, you need to expose them to some moisture in order to rehydrate them efficiently. Dried out weeds are likely to lose their taste or aroma, which is why you smoke them in the first place.
The bud should be exposed to a moisture content between 6 and 9%. If this value is above 65%, this can lead to the formation of mold. When drying it, the humidity should be below 15%. As it cures, it is dried to bring it down to around 9%. When weeds are rehydrated, the pot is usually placed in a sealed container with another moist object, creating a microclimate. This allows water to be transferred from the wet object to the dry object until an even moisture system is in place.
Note, however, that you should always use distilled water for best results. This is because distilled water has already gone through the process of evaporation and condensation and is passed through a filter. These ensure that the distilled water is completely free of chemicals and contaminants that could affect the cannabis as it rehydrates.
There are several methods you can use:
Fruit bowl
The fruit peel method of rehydrating cannabis is one of the easiest and most popular. The point is simply to put the supply in an airtight container, with fruit peel, lime, and lemon being the most common choices. But you can also use apples, grapes, happiness, grapefruit, banana and pear.
Not only does the use of fruit peel effectively rehydrate your weeds, but it also has the benefit of adding some delicious, fruity flavors to your stash. This is because this process transfers some of the fruit’s essential oils and terpenes. Simply put the fruit peel with the weed in the jar and let in air once or twice within 24 hours. After that, your supply should be ready for use.
If you like the benefit of added flavors and flavors, you can also experiment by adding herbs like coriander, mint, thyme, or other herbs that are rich in fragrances.
loaf
A fresh slice of bread has been touted by many as the best proven method of rehydrating cannabis. Just dampen the slice and place it in the same container as your pot. Do not let the bread come into contact with the cannabis as you will not want to smoke breadcrumbs after rehydration. The process with bread is the same as with fruit peels, but you may need to repeat it about five times for best results.
Green salad
Since lettuce is primarily made up of water, it is an excellent choice for rehydrating weeds. The use of lettuce is similar to the fruit peel. Just leave a lettuce cut in an airtight container or ziplock bag for about 12 hours.
Moist paper towel
Get a clean paper towel and lightly dampen it with distilled water. Be careful not to soak it. Place it next to the cannabis in a thick plastic or ziplock bag and close it tightly so it can sit for an hour or two. Check the weeds to see if they have already absorbed moisture, and also check the towel if it is less wet.
This process may need to be repeated a few times depending on the size of your warehouse. Remember, this process should not be speeded up. Just repeat it until the weeds reach the desired moisture level.
Moisture packs
Your last resort can always be a disposable moisture pack. There are many inexpensive ones that are sold online, but some are also made specifically for maintaining the ideal humidity level in cannabis.
Bottom line
Rehydrating your weeds probably isn’t something you want to do often. This is why prevention is always key, and you can prevent it by making sure you keep it properly first.
If you want to make sure that you are always smoking the freshest cannabis, invest in a humidor or humidifier. There are many cannabis humidifiers to suit all budgets.
Last but not least, airtight and out of sight should always be your motto the next time you store your pot.
