John Denver wasn't kidding! The Mile High City defends its name with a top spot in the 2024 stoner city rankings. I mean, there's a damn Mile High 420 Fest. Colorado legalized in 2012 and today a mature cannabis industry competes to provide the highest quality flower and extracts at the lowest price. Denver has nearly four times as many stores per capita as Los Angeles, and the average price for a prime ounce there defied inflation, falling $1 to $242 an ounce last year. Whether it's fine dining, shows at Red Rocks, breathtaking hiking trails or breathtaking art, Denver has it all to offer its Irish residents and visitors. We can't wait to visit again.

#2 Portland, OR

NO. 4 Buffalo, NY

According to Whitney Economics, only 4 percent of New York smokers use licensed cannabis. This is a failure. But not in Buffalo, NY, where locals – including indigenous communities – have made a fast track to tons of business and literally tons of acreage. This is how you gain secure access and fulfill the will of the voters. Buffalo beats New York City – ouch! Come on, bills!

#5 Baltimore, MD

American weed regulators are struggling to learn from their counterparts in other states. But we can still ask them to study Maryland. With a brilliant, successful start, it quickly catapulted into adult sales in 2023. Existing medical producers expanded, stores converted from medical to recreational products, and supplies never ran out. May the speedy reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge inspire us all. #6 Phoenix, AZ

It's so great to see this large desert city becoming the cannabis capital. Phoenix has a large amount of large-scale indoor cultivation, which brings prices down. Regulators did a smart job of dispersing the clubs across the state, using tax revenue and another special incentive to get city approval. Cities that ban stores must allow home growers.

#7 Seattle, WA
