Will British Columbia’s COVID mandates prevent another Vancouver 420? – Latest cannabis news today
Assuming it would make sense to cancel Vancouver 420 on 4/20/20 and make it virtual. March 2020 was a strange time. We didn’t know any better. But there is no excuse to cancel 4/20/22. Almost everyone had COVID at this point. They vaccinated almost everyone. Some of them three times. Lots of people will be wearing masks even though it’s outside. So what’s the problem? No damage, no foul.
If you’re worried, don’t go. If you’re worried about overburdening the hospitals, don’t fire the unvaccinated nurses. Don’t shy away from the mention of private health care. Don’t flinch when you hear public health and private insurance. Don’t step on our Vancouver 420 protest because you don’t like practical solutions.
4/20/22 running.
Thousands celebrate Vancouver 420
If the cops don’t shut it down first. All protests and demonstrations will not tolerate public health dissent. We saw that with the truckers. This cannabis festival was already pushing the envelope. Public health legalized weed, not the BC Bud community. That’s what the Vancouver 420 protest was about. Anyone who goes to Sunset Beach now will probably be labeled as a right-wing agitator.
Worse, anyone who goes to Sunset Beach on 4/20/22 will see the inside of a jail cell. Or require a hospital visit. In Ottawa, police used anti-riot guns to disperse truckers. They used stun grenades and pepper spray. They smashed windows to get at people in their trucks. Organizers of the convoy were “shocked by the abuse of power” by Ottawa police. They urged the truckers to “move away from Parliament Hill to avoid further brutality”.
So don’t go 4/20/22 is out.
Or walk, but keep a safe distance. Whatever you choose, ask yourself: Isn’t it a nice day to go for a walk? Who doesn’t want to go for a walk this Wednesday, April 20th, 2022? And why not Sunset Beach? Even if it rains that day, and it might, downtown Vancouver has a nice vibe. And Sunset Beach is definitely a nice area to visit. Couldn’t hurt. It’s legal, isn’t it?
Unless it isn’t. There is a new variant of COVID in circulation. Vancouver 420, 04/20/22 can be canceled again. But it’s been a while since Vancouver closed its parks and sidewalks. Public health has now caught up with what we already knew: walking outdoors is healthy. With COVID not in the air, there is nothing to worry about.
Assuming public health doesn’t require Sunset Beach to be closed. And suppose the city doesn’t provide them with one. Suppose 4/20/22 is in limbo. What’s stopping someone from walking down the path at Sunset Beach? What’s wrong with going to the rocks and sand and smoking a joint? Except that it’s against the rules.
But there is strength in numbers.
And on this 4/20 when you find yourself with some friends smoking a joint on Sunset Beach. Look around. If there are some other people doing the same thing, why not go over and say hello?
