Why you can cough and how to prevent it

The popularity of vaping has increased in recent years and is one of the reasons why vaping cannabis is less harsh on the lungs. Many people turn to vaping cannabis instead of rolling a joint or smoking.

Research is ongoing, but vaping cannabis is indeed known to be a healthier choice. However, many consumers still have a fit of coughing when they take a train off their steam truck.

There could be many reasons why you are coughing. One thing is for sure, you are breathing something into your lungs that is irritating on any level, such as both smoke and fumes that can lead to a cough.

Below are a few ways you can help relieve this cough so you can enjoy the benefits of cannabis again.

Ingredients for vape juice

Aside from all of the potentially questionable ingredients in vape juice, the terpenes found in cannabis oil can trigger a cough. Terpenes are aromatic oils that color different cannabis strains with distinctive aromas. Terpenes are potentially the real reason cannabis strains have different effects in the first place. However, sometimes these oils can cause an itchy throat that leads to a cough. The solution could be as simple as trying a different flavor and that cough will go away.

It’s hot and dry

You heat steam and inhale it into your lungs. Remember that your lungs are designed to inhale cool, lukewarm air, not hot, dry cannabis vapor. Overheating your vape pen can irritate your lungs and throat, which can cause you to cough. Try a lower setting on your vape pen or keep a glass of water nearby to keep your throat moist.

It’s not a joint

If you grew up with a joint in hand, you may need to adjust your approach to avoid a cough. Many consumers who used to smoke joints are now using a vape pen as if it were still a joint and taking big puffs that last for far too long. The result of this type of smoking can make you cough so badly that you vomit. Nobody wants that. Basically, try to take smaller, flatter hits. Take your mouth off the pen and breathe in fresh air. This approach will improve your vaping more positively than chopping up a lung.

Basic health problems

If you have a respiratory disease such as asthma or bronchitis, regardless of the approach, it can lead to a cough. Perhaps consider finding alternative methods like oil drops or edibles. Also, keep in mind that there are ingredients in your steam oils that you may be allergic to, such as propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. Talk to your local budget tender about something that could work better for you. Or check out a few other methods of cannabis use that might work better for you.
