What does infused pre-roll mean in a weed shop?

What’s better than a joint? A joint with hash in it.

Infused pre-rolls can be anything from kief-rolled dog walkers for $ 9 to massive multi-gram giants coated in distillate, diamonds, and all sorts of other extracts that sell for over $ 100. They’re popular with everyone from concertgoers to former NFL players because people love the convenience and can still get as high as if they had their favorite dab rig.

What does infused joint mean?

An infused joint, or pre-roll, is a pre-made weed cigarette to which hashish is added. This cannabis extract can be used outside or inside the j. The concentrate can be of many different types – often bubble hash or wax. The infused pre-rolls can be small or large and are in demand.

According to Headset’s Weed Analytics staff, infused pre-rolls could account for 5% of the legal market in California, or half of all pre-roll sales. They can be found in every legalization state and also in most medical states.

Scott Sundvor, the CEO of Space Coyote in California, said infused is on the rise and perhaps “75% of the preroll market is now infused”. They even make a CBD-infused joint.

Wax-infused joints

You can expect your infused pre-roll to contain either “wax” concentrate or bubble hash or solvent-free “rosin” extract or other forms of cannabis resin.

The cheapest could be a pre-roll enriched with butane hash oil distillate. At the upper end? A rosin infused joint, said Matthew Trout, CEO of CLSICS, maker of rosin infused pre-rolls.

“We are improving high-end flowers with a high-end product and taking that terpene level above and beyond,” he said.

A faithful format to make at home is cannabis flower with bubble hash or pressed hash in line.

Amid all the new strains, “A hash is my favorite thing,” said Ellen Holland, former editor of Cannabis Now Magazine and author of the upcoming book Weed: A Connoisseur’s Guide to Cannabis.

Hash inside, outside, both, everywhere

Infused joints may have hashish on the outside, sometimes referred to as tarantula or churro, or hashish on the inside, like the new Fidel’s Hash Hole. CLSCS manages to coat all of their flowers with rosin so that everyone has a hit.

Space Coyote makes pre-rolls infused with hash, living resin, and diamonds, and they all have the extracts in the paper.

And in Oregon, the solvent-free infused Diamond Doink pre-roll from Decibel LOUDS is coated with rosin and dusted with kief dust.

Add terpenes?

One trend we’re seeing is emerging – adding additional flavor molecules or “terpenes” to a pre-roll to enhance a flavor. We are not automatic fans. Added terpenes can make a common taste synthetic, and the origin of these terpenes makes us pause.

Sundvor was clear, “While some brands do, we don’t use artificial terpenes.” He left the door open to add cannabis-derived terpenes in the future.

Where Infused Joints Go: Diamonds

Be on the lookout for the newest name in the infused pre-rolls – diamonds.

“We called our THCa-infused joints THCa-infused joints and they didn’t sell well,” said Libby Cooper, CEO and co-founder of Space Coyote, “when we started calling them Diamond-infused, they started taking off the shelves to fly.”

Whether you’re a customer trying to flex or a brand looking to increase sales, diamonds have it all instead of saying isolated or crystalline.

Marshawn Lynch took this advice and ran with it. Dodi Blunts are loaded with “Oakland Weed” and a diamond concentrate infusion.

Put simply, “As Kentucky is known for bourbon, we want to do the same for Oakland and Blunts,” said Jeff Goldenberg, founder of 2nd and Goal Ventures at Lynch.

Whether you’re stocking up for this summer’s festival season or a trip to the beach, don’t forget about infused pre-rolls.
