The cannabis industry has had a difficult few years, but things are looking up. The only positive thing is that consumer demand has continued to increase. You know it's a good thing when Missouri had over $1 billion in sales last year. And despite the difficulties, the industry continues to grow. In fact, the cannabis industry grew 5%, outperforming other jobs reports. There are currently around 440,000 employees working in the market. It's a clear indication that legal cannabis is here to stay.

While 440,000 is a big number, how big does it compare to other industries? BDSA, an analytics firm that covers cannabis, reported that the industry generated $29.5 billion in the legal market. Without the chaos and the huge illegal market in New York, it would have been over $30 billion. Like most industries, the cannabis industry includes dispensaries, manufacturers, some ancillary services, farmers and management. It is also a very small part of a larger agricultural community. America's farming families make up two percent of the population and help feed the other 98%.
