Should the Cannabis Industry Switch to Minds’ Social Media Platform to Avoid Censorship?

People are waking up to the idea that these giant tech platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube – maybe aren’t necessarily there for our benefit. Many people recognize that these platforms promote dominant narratives consistent with the underlying philosophy of the Overlords while silencing others.

Additionally, there is a fundamental problem with current social media platforms that should worry anyone surfing the web. Essentially, when you start using “free” platforms like Facebook and Twitter, they start tracking everything you do. The reason for this, according to them, is to “bring you content that you want”.

What that really means is that they create content that binds you to their platform since your participation earns them money. While that’s “okay,” they take it a step further by bundling your information and selling it to advertisers, who then use that information to market stuff to you. One would think that by providing so much value to the platform, they would have some sort of opportunity to participate in the money they generate.

However, as many people have found, if you don’t agree with their topics of conversation, you can easily get booted off their platform. Just ask ex-President Trump, who has been banned from Twitter.

Reginald… I know social media platforms suck right now… but what can we do about it?

You may have heard about a few alternatives to Twitter over the past few weeks. Gab and Gettr. Both of these social media platforms claim that they are advocates of free speech, but Gettr has banned Nick Fuentes for what the platform believes is white supremacist recruitment protocol. Which simply shows that “free speech” is not technically a tenant of the platforms.

Another alternative to Twitter, Gab is more independent but appears to be effectively a clone of Twitter with no additional features to make you say “wow”.

So what are we left with? I personally think that the best platform available on the internet at this point is Minds.

The rest of this article is dedicated to convincing stoners everywhere, young and old, professionals and consumers, to migrate their activities and shift all their social networks to Minds. At least to open a profile on Minds right now.

Why minds?

First, let’s talk about Minds as a platform. It is one of the first “decentralized” platforms where there is no censorship. This means there are people who could potentially spread insensitive and hateful speech online – BUT – it also means that all utterances have an inherent protection.

Minds is a place where open discourse can take place and community can be built. But most importantly, it’s a place where YOU have the right to monetize content. I’ll go into more detail on that later.

Minds has its own cryptocurrency which is currently worth 1 MINDS token for $1.5. The platform is blockchain based, can connect to your favorite crypto wallet and has engagement levels including Minds+ and MindsPro depending on what you want to use it for.

It comes with a web-based platform as well as a mobile app for Android and Apple. You can also download the app directly from Minds itself. Finally, and probably most importantly – Minds has some of the most bombastic memes on the internet. I’m talking about some really good stuff.

How this can benefit cannabis growers, businesses and consumers

Let’s start with the fact that just by interacting with the platform, you start earning Minds Tokens. Here is a screenshot from my personal account. I’ve only been using it for about a month or two, and just a few weeks ago I started posting between 1-2 posts a day. On average, I liked between 3-5 posts per day and replied to around 5-10 posts per day.

Be aware of the social media platform

To be fair I won about $3 for a short story contest which can be found at #WeeklyWritingContest. As a writer, a robust writing community definitely appealed to me. Nonetheless, I just wanted to show you that by simply interacting with content, posting it, and doing what you would normally do on any social media platform; actually provided a dollar value for participation.

These tokens can be used to boo my content and reach new minds.

Now let’s get to the specifics.

Cannabis Content Creators

Remember how Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and many other platforms deleted social media content from major cannabis brands and essentially reset to nothing? Well here at Cannabis.net we felt that on Youtube.

While Minds isn’t the Youtube alternative – it can host videos. If you’re looking for a Youtube alternative (or at least a side hustle to make sure your database is safe) you can try Rumble or Odyssey, the latter being more similar to Minds in that it’s based on blockchain technology.

Nonetheless, you can definitely self-host your videos on Minds, engagement means more earned revenue, thus becoming an “extra revenue stream” and your resiliency.

A cannabis creator must always failsafe because if Big Tech wants it can censor you and ban you from its platforms. If you didn’t create this backup, it would mean all your fans would lose your content.

However, if you back up everything in your Minds, Rumble, or Odyssey account, you could redirect your fans to this new location without much disruption.

Why buy Minds Plus?

The real power in Minds comes from the community itself. The Minds Plus program is the “premium” version of Minds, which costs $5/month (when paid annually) or $7/month when paid monthly. Both price points are very accessible.

What this gives you access to is;

  1. Protect your content that is only available to other Minds+ users

  2. Your subscription also helps other Minds users generate income. It is shared with the community to democratize content distribution.

  3. Automatically import your entire Youtube library (up to 95 min HD videos allowed)

  4. No more fear of censorship

As a developer, enterprise, or anyone looking to build a network resilient to corporate censorship, Minds is probably one of the most robust and ready-to-use solutions out there. At the very least, it should be added to your current social media strategy, and with some organic marketing and encouraging your followers to join the network, you’ll increase sales while protecting their privacy and decentralizing technology.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE RACISTS!!!!

I know some of you out there are concerned about hate speech and whatnot. While it’s true that the platform doesn’t censor anything related to language, I’ve been active on the platform for months now and haven’t seen a single talking point about white supremacists. Maybe that’s because I don’t look for racist stuff, or maybe because all speech is allowed, people shout racist shit when they see it, and smother the arguments with logic and reason.

Join the network for open minds

I would like to point out that I am not sponsored by Minds to write this article. I was just researching alternatives to further my personal work and found Minds to be the best solution so far. I am currently focused on promoting the platform because I believe it is a better alternative to the mainstream monsters who are selling our data and silencing our voices.

Go ahead and join Minds Here and once you’ve decided to join, give me a call on Minds and I’ll follow you back!

Let’s build a decentralized community of cannabis users, communities and businesses free from corporate encroachment.

The transition may start out slow, but stay tuned… I promise it will get better as your network grows.
