Remembering 420 Vancouver: A Flashback Word Game

420 Vancouver 2021 is around the corner and the party is going to take place at home. This isn’t a big shock as we Stoners are a responsible bunch, after all. Smoking weeds can make you cough. Plus, if you can be baked enough to mess up the rotation, you will be baked enough to make a connection happen when you shouldn’t. We know that man. Most of the cannabis community has just come to terms with the fact that 420 events are a thing of the past … but what a piece of history.

When we look back on it now, events seem like a dream of green rush fever, and the ultimate party was 420 after legalization. 420 Vancouver 2019 was like a citywide cannabis coming out party and CLN did the footage. Led by Craig Ex aka The Expert of Expert Joints and Piper Courtenay, the cannabis editor at Straight Cannabis and Georgia Straight, 420 Vancouver celebrated its 25th anniversary with an epic pot party.

It was a beautiful day at Sunset Beach and over 100,000 people came to smoke. The event started with a killer opening set by Vancouver-based group Snotty Nose Rez Kids, and that was just the beginning. After hearing from keynote speakers like cannabis activist Dana Larsen, the crowd was treated to a free surprise concert from hip-hop legends Cypress Hill.

Do you remember when the Vancouver Park Board tried to cancel Cypress Hill?

Believe it or not, not everyone was excited about the musical performance. In the lead up to 420 Vancouver 2019, Vancouver Park Board agent John Coupar pushed for an urgency motion to cancel Cypress Hill. Why? He was afraid that the event would get too big and get out of hand. Thankfully, Cypress Hill showed up and rocked the huge crowd.

Lift your spirits because 420 is almost here. In honor of the celebrations and those who helped us celebrate in the past, there’s a 420 word game here. To everyone celebrating, here on the Cannabis Life Network we want to wish you a very happy 420.
