What is recovery?

Can I smoke?

While Reclaim wax can be up to 60 percent the potency of the original wax, it’s not the best experience. This is because all of the terpenes and flavonoids were removed in the first heating cycle so it doesn’t taste like the nice fresh wax you are used to.

Instead, you get a harsh taste, and since it’s only half as strong, you’ll need to vape twice as much of it.

How do I collect reclaims from a swab?

Before cleaning the drill rig and collecting the recovery, it is important to consider what you will be doing with the recovered wax.

If you want to smoke, you can use a high purity ISO alcohol, which is pure alcohol and water.

If you plan to eat your recovered wax, use a high percentage of grain alcohol (e.g., Everclear) instead. Although both alcohols should be completely evaporated from the recovered wax, it is advisable to use an edible solvent when making an edible recovery.

With that in mind, there are four easy steps to picking up the recovery claim from the rig:

• Remove the nails / bangers and fill the rig chamber half full with ISO alcohol or grain alcohol. The less alcohol you use, the faster it will evaporate later. So start with small amounts and add more as needed.
• Insert the mouthpiece and the connection of the water pipe with your finger, a paper towel or similar object. Begin gently shaking the alcohol around the rig. You don’t have to shake as hard when cleaning a rig as when cleaning a bong. The wax should quickly dissolve in alcohol and peel off the side. For stubborn recovery spots, let your rig soak for 10 to 30 minutes. Do not use salt if you plan to reuse the recovery later. Use cleaning tools such as pipe cleaners if necessary.
• Pour the recovery and alcohol solutions into a glass bowl. From here you can let the solution evaporate naturally or speed up the process by adding heat. However, great caution should be exercised when using heat to accelerate evaporation as the alcohol is flammable. Do not use an open flame. Instead, it is better to place the glass bowl on a low-temperature hotplate or on a sunny windowsill.
• Alcohol should evaporate completely after a day or two. Scrape off the remaining wax material from the bottom of the bowl and store it in a wax paper or silicone container.
