Germany, Joe Rogan, Weed Taxes and Edible Train Tickets – Latest Updates December 2021 – Latest Cannabis News Today

The year is drawing to a close and we are all preparing for a new beginning. Before we embark on a new lap around the sun, here’s a look at grass around the world and the latest updates from December 2021. From Germany, Joe Rogan and the weed taxes to edible train tickets had an interesting December behind him …

Germany legalizes recreational cannabis

Germany is the second European country to legalize recreational cannabis sales (Malta was the first). The long-serving German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently resigned from office and put a new coalition government at the head. The new German government, a mix of left-wing Greens and business-friendly Free Democrats, plans to allow the controlled sale of recreational cannabis. This proposal was previously blocked by German regulators, but is now being pushed forward.

In addition to creating a legal market, lawmakers are planning to regulate and tax cannabis pharmacies and update youth protection laws. No timeframe was given for these changes to take effect. According to current German law, the consumption of cannabis is legal, but buying and selling it is prohibited.

Joe Rogan cancels 4/20 Vancouver

Joe Rogan canceled his Vancouver 420 show because of the vaccination mandate. On a recent podcast episode, he was quoted as saying, “My 4/20 show, which is sold out in Vancouver, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I don’t even think I’ll get into the country. I am not vaccinated. I will not get vaccinated. I have antibodies. It doesn’t make sense. ”The sold-out show was due to take place on April 20, 2022 at the Rogers Arena. Ticketmaster has stated that all ticket prices will be automatically refunded.

San Francisco is suspending the weed tax to compete in the illegal market

To compete with the black market, San Francisco suspended its cannabis business tax for the month of December. In November, city officials voted on the ordinance and unanimously approved it. The move was taken to aid the legal cannabis market as it struggles to compete with black market companies. The idea is that most black market companies are able to evade taxes and restrictive regulations. Because of this, products can be sold at a lower price. Legal cannabis retailers have two options: increase their retail prices or reduce their profit margins.

“Cannabis companies create good jobs for San Franciscans and offer their customers safe, regulated products,” City Mayor Rafael Mandelman said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the illegal market thrives by undercutting legal companies’ prices, which is bad for our economy as illegal companies pay no taxes while exposing workers to dangerous conditions and consumers to dangerous products. Now is not the time to impose a new tax on small businesses that are just starting out and trying to compete with illegal operators. “

The cannabis corporate tax suspension ordinance expires on December 31, 2022. At this point, new recommendations for cannabis corporate taxes and regulations will be presented to the city.

Stress-free Christmas party – train tickets made from edible hemp in Berlin

The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe have come up with a creative way to reduce public stress during the vacation trip: edible hemp train tickets. Each ticket is made from edible paper and hemp oil, but does not contain THC. The tickets are said to be bought for € 8.80 and are valid for 24 hours to promote a calming effect. The spokesman for the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is Jannes Schwentu and has made the following statement; “We make it very clear that anyone who wants to use the ticket as an actual ticket, please only nibble or eat it after the journey as if it had a bite, it is no longer valid.”

The BVG created some very entertaining ads to explain the tickets. Unfortunately, there are no English subtitles available, but it’s still worth checking out.

On behalf of everyone here on the Cannabis Life Network, I wish you a Happy New Year.
