He was born in 1943. His last role was in 2023 at the age of 80 in “Nada,” but soon the political thriller miniseries “Zero Day” will be on Netflix. He collaborated creatively with Martin Scorsese, which helped define his legacy. His first Scorsese film was “The Crucible,” in which he played “Johnny Boy” Civello, a petty criminal who works his way up into the local mafia. He threw himself into the role. Then he lost himself in the role of Travis Bickle in “Taxi Driver.” Working with Francis Ford Coppola, he became Vito Corleone in “The Godfather Part II,” which gave him a strong reputation as a criminal in the eyes of the public. The intensity he brought to the role is legendary. Fortunately, marijuana helped with that.

Sometimes it's used to relax, other times it comes from a darker source. De Niro became addicted to weed after smoking a bong a few times during the filming of Jackie Brown. Filming was delayed because the actor and the bong got close for a few days. Perhaps it's his addiction to consumption that brings out the humor and wit in films like Getting Married, Her Father and Me.

In the medical field, De Niro battled prostate cancer and resumed his career. Cannabis has helped cancer patients relieve the symptoms of treatment and chronic pain.
