Can marijuana deepen your meditation?

Between 200 and 300 million people practice meditation worldwide. The benefits include better sleep, less tension, help with focus and concentration, and reduced anxiety. Even doing it for just 5 to 10 minutes can benefit you. But when cannabis is legal for over 50% of the US population, all of Canada, and other parts of the world, can marijuana deepen your meditation?

Morning is the ideal time to meditate because the mind is not yet in overdrive or overloaded with the day's tasks and interactions. For regular meditation, 5-15 minutes is recommended, long enough for benefits, yet short enough to fit into most days. All you need is patience, some self-love, and a comfortable place to sit, so it's an inexpensive and portable activity. Drinking water afterward can help re-ground yourself and reawaken the physical senses.

Marijuana can help keep the mind from wandering and focus on the breathing technique that is central to meditation. Incorporating cannabis into meditation practice can help reduce stress and allow for an easier transition to the goal of the trance-like state. Some people take microdoses to meditate, some take a little more, but it doesn't take too much cannabis to enhance the experience.

Work with your budtender or choose from your own experience a strain that helps you focus, relax, and prepare for the day. One hit or piece of gummy should be enough to send you on your way. Too much and the urge to crawl back into bed can be too strong.
