9 ways to have a weedy International Women’s Day
March 8, 2023 is International Women’s Day, but you can celebrate women every day of the year with these activities.
International Women’s Day — a global holiday celebrating women’s political, economic, social, and cultural achievements — was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977, but the first Women’s Day was celebrated in the United States in 1909.
What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is a very special day for those who identify as women, although people of all genders are welcome and encouraged to celebrate it.
Women’s Day was created to commemorate the garment workers’ strikes that began in the United States in the early 20th century, when many women in cities like New York protested poor working conditions.
Celebrations of this holiday would not be the same were it not for the North American women’s rights movements of the mid-19th century and the advances of labor movements in North America and Europe in the 19th century. And while there’s no denying that we still have a long way to go before gender equality becomes a reality, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate how far women’s rights have come, thanks largely to the groundbreaking women who came before us.
And speaking of flames, get ready to weave your way through International Women’s Day using this cannabis-friendly guide.
1. Plan an outdoor smoking session and meal with your favorite cannabis queens
You can’t go wrong with a smoking session and al fresco meal. Think about your local cannabis laws, send a group message to your favorite cannabis queens, pick a park, porch, or garden, and ask everyone to bring picnic baskets full of delicious cannabis treats. Spring is finally in the air.

Make it a potluck or stick to charcuterie munchies for a stress-free celebration. Add in cannabis-infused junk food or make your own cannabis treats if you’re up for the extra effort.
3. Send a care package to a woman jailed for cannabis
Scores of people around the world are being jailed for cannabis-related crimes. Even as legalization spreads to more states each year, thousands of Americans are still in prison for cannabis. Many of these Americans are women.
For International Women’s Day, consider donating a care package to a woman incarcerated for cannabis, or funding a female cannabis prisoner’s commissary account. While prison regulations do not allow you to ship your own customized care package, you can use a private carrier to ship a package for you. Access Securepak, iCare and Pigeonly are some options.
You can also help women incarcerated for cannabis by sending them books or magazines, supporting prison arts and crafts programs, and writing a letter of clemency.
4. Try a few recipes from cannabis cookbooks written by women
Enjoy baking? Try a few recipes from cannabis cookbooks written by women. Most of the cannabis cookbooks on this list are written or co-authored by women, and they’re chock full of recipes for cannabis edibles and cannabis-infused dishes.

5. Donate to a women-focused cannabis charity or non-profit organization
If you are financially able, a donation to cannabis charities or non-profit organizations that help women is a wonderfully generous way to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Supernova Women is one such non-profit organization: the organization was founded by Black and Brown women to empower Black and Brown people to become self-sufficient stakeholders in the cannabis and natural medicine markets.
6. Light up a hemp joint and read female writers who liked weed
Not everyone likes to read when high, so we recommend combining low-THC cannabis joints with reading.
In particular, we recommend Rosebud’s CBG-rich hemp pre-rolls. If you fancy getting inspired by female writers who liked weed this International Women’s Day, light up your favorite hemp joint and use your library card.

7. Stock up on CBD and celebrate International Women’s Day with the young girls in your life
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than hanging out with the young women and girls in your life? Personally, I enjoy spending time with my nieces so much and they always inspire me to keep trying to be the woman I want to be.
Children are the future and they are great. But they can also get pretty noisy, and this is where CBD products can help. These CBD oils are among our favorites and will help keep your spirits up even when spending time with younger generations.
8. Treat yourself to a cannabis spa day at home
It’s okay if you don’t feel like leaving your home or being around people on International Women’s Day.
Luckily, there are plenty of fantastic cannabis bath products out there, including cannabis bath bombs, that you can use to create the perfect at-home cannabis spa, day or night.
Even better? It’s not hard to find cannabis bath products made by women companies. You can also make your own cannabis-infused bath bombs if you’re creative.
9. Celebrate the feminine form with cannabis lubes
Whether you have a female body or your partner, celebrating the female form consensually with cannabis lubes is another comfortable, intimate way to enjoy the vacation from home.
Choose from THC-infused options, or read this article for great CBD-infused tips if you prefer to keep the bedroom (or wherever you consensually celebrate the female form) largely THC-free.
Happy International Women’s Day!
