Xzibit and Tammy, the cannabis cuties, eat “Lasagne Ganja” with a new podcast
Everyone seems to have a cannabis podcast these days, Leafly Nation, but not many can say they have multi-platinum selling rapper and actor Xzibit and acclaimed cannabis educator Tammy the Cannabis Cutie at the helm. Even fewer can boast a name that creates a sumptuous Italian dinner.
Her new company called Lasagna Ganja released its first episode yesterday, October 5th, covering the last decades of cannabis activism in an interview with Jerry Krecicki. Xzibit and Tammy moved in different circles – he as a music industry consumer and NAPALM brand owner and she as an educator with her own cannabis curriculum that includes plant history, medicinal uses and industry games – but their goals were already aligned. They met in 2020 and given the current cannabis media landscape, a podcast made the most sense.
“I called it the Lasagna Ganja Podcast because the importance of cannabis and culture in our lives is so complex – I think it was a perfect fit,” says Xzibit. “I wanted to do it right because we’ve seen other podcasts talking about cannabis and they usually just end up with a bunch of people sitting around smoking. And so I wanted to go in a completely different direction. I want this to resonate with people from your street all the way to Wall Street.”
The production that literally puts Lasagna Ganja in the oven comes from DCP Entertainment, a company known for producing podcasts and other media that highlight underrepresented stories and voices.
“[Cannabis ]My productivity and positive thinking increased – my overall life really improved and that’s when I became a plant advocate. “One of the things I learned from business school was that if there’s a problem, you have the power to solve that problem,” adds Tammy. “Cannabis is an essential part of our identity and our brands. With this plant we can be loud and represent our community. We don’t really have mainstream cannabis podcasts for people of color, so we have an opportunity to create an avenue for people to be successful too.”
Lasagna Ganja is published weekly on Thursdays with episodes available on the DCP website, Spotify, YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. The pipeline is full of other guests, including cannabis CEOs, activists, musicians – but all are high-profile.
