Wisconsin pizzeria accidentally serves THC -let dough and weakening dozens

Dozens of customers – including children and seniors – were unintentionally exposed to THC after eating pizzas with THC -infected oil that was accidentally used in a common kitchen room.

Between the 22nd and 24th October 2024, customers at Famous Yeti's Pizza in Stoughton unknowingly consumed pizza, garlic bread and sandwiches, which were prepared with THC-infused oil, which was borrowed by a seller in the same commercial cuisine. Up to 85 patrons – from 1 to 91 years of age, the symptoms of THC poisoning, including dizziness, sleepiness, fear, nausea, increased heart rate and blood pressure, hallucinations and time distortation, reported. Seven people were hospitalized; Fortunately, everyone was completely recovering.

Rescue workers first marked the problem when several patients reported similar symptoms after eating in the restaurant. A subsequent questionnaire for the Ministry of Health confirmed that 85 respondents met the THC intoxication definition and reported at least one symptom within five hours after eating contaminated food.

The pizza shop worked fully with the investigators and voluntarily closed for cleaning and disinfection. The police came to the conclusion that the event was random; No criminal charges were submitted. The restaurant was reopened on October 26 after decontamination.

Since then, civil servants of the public healthcare system have advised restaurants to share the kitchen rooms with THC reducing producers in order to implement safe storage and clear identification of THC -specific ingredients in order to prevent similar incidents.
