Will the Juul Ban Affect the Marijuana Vape Market?
The US Food and Drug Administration has banned the sale of Juul products. Although this decision has nothing to do with marijuana vapes and products, some experts predict it could have implications for the industry down the road.
The FDA ban affects Juuls exclusively, but it shows the organization’s intent to keep an eye on vape products.

MJBusinessDaily spoke to Arnaud Dumas de Rauly, CEO of Blinc Group, a New York-based vape company. He states that making marijuana federally illegal should protect the industry from FDA interference. “However, that doesn’t mean it will be like this forever,” he said.
The vaping crisis of 2019 is largely responsible for FDA scrutiny of these products. While it was discovered that vitamin E acetate, an additive in THC vaporization products, was responsible for EVALI disease, it showed how many users were vaping. It also highlighted some mismanagement by Juul executives, noting that the company is putting its customers at risk.
Still, many experts believe that banning any kind of vape product would only result in a new product for the black market, putting people at even greater risk.
“If the FDA really wants to ensure consumer safety, they should regulate vaporizer companies and hold them to the highest scientific standards,” said Dumas de Rauly.

Meanwhile, Juul received a temporary stay from the FDA. The company appealed the FDA decision and allowed their products to remain on the shelves. Currently, Juul is the fourth most popular vape brand among teenagers who prefer disposable vape brands.
