Will Smith stumbles upon psychedelics in Peru and talks about them in his new book, Will
It is not every day that we hear of a celebrity’s experience of psychedelic substances.
Will Smith, who is about to go on a book tour, recently gave an unreserved interview to GQ magazine. He revealed unknown things about his family, marriage, career, and life. One of the fascinating stories was his visit to Peru in search of clarity.
Will Smith has always been that revered actor who everyone thinks couldn’t do anything worse in their eyes. His interview with GQ made it clear that he is only human. Nobody has a perfect life and Will is no different. He shared the good, the bad, and the ugly in the interview. But stresses that the book will reveal others.
The memoir: ‘Will’
The idea for the book came up a few years ago during his time. His team announced that the actor has hired Mark Manson to write his story. Mark Manson is the author of the bestselling book Art of Not Give a Fuck. The cover was also designed by the talented Brandan Odums aka Mike, a popular New Orleans actor.
Will told a number of stories about using psychedelics in Peru. According to the extensive cover story of GQ magazine, the actor’s memoirs will reveal more about these encounters. Like you, many fans can’t wait to get one of these memoirs in November. The book, titled “Will,” contains all of the details about Will’s personal life away from the stage. He is about to tell everything.
His now grown children may be why Will will do this now. They could record the messages (if they don’t already know details about the unpolished content).
Rise to the star
It’s hard to believe that Will Smith started out as a rapper. He thought then that he could rise to the top by being one. Fortunately for him, he was played as one of the main characters in the popular series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.
It is said that some parts of the show contained little truths about Will’s life. One of these was his dealings with West Philadelphia law. Most people don’t know this.
Over the years the actor has maintained a scandal-free identity and his squeaky image has never been tainted. Since then it has increased steadily until it has reached its current peak.
As he got up, Will avoided the party lifestyle in order to concentrate more on his gigs at the time. He says he didn’t have any vices back then. No weed and just a little bit of alcohol when it couldn’t be avoided. All of this strained his relationships and friendships. You need people at the top, the hyperfocus on his career made him lonely, and he only realized that late. He ended up evaluating his lifestyle as he got older and climbed the ladder of fame.
The funky 40s
As a leading star on several projects over the years, Will was in a unique position that very few people could understand. In his interview, he revealed that when he was 40 he called Denzel Wahington for a chat to discuss how he was handling his life at the time. It seems Will is looking up to Denzel (who wouldn’t?)
Denzel is the guy everyone thinks he told Will during one of those conversations that the 40s are a bunch of funky years and everyone just lives like that. Will said Denzel told him to wait a few more years for what he called the “damn 50s”. What he did and here we are.
The fucking 50s
By the time Will reached 50, his goal was to have the most fun and do whatever he wanted. That was the starting point for a “New Testament”. He discovered freedom and made sure he experimented. He mentioned that he has used the past three years to travel overseas without his security team, and he has visited Pere to perform what are traditionally known as “ayahuasca rituals”.
Ayahuasca rituals in Peru
Ayahuasca can be translated as the vine of death. It’s a hiatus popular with the Amazons for its trippy effects. People who travel to Peru for this drink are doing it to fundamentally change their lives. Only a few visit the Amazon metropolis of Iquitos just to watch.
The drink is made from the leaves of the Psychotria Viridis shrub and the stems of the Banisteriopsis vine.
The relaxing psychedelic journey is led by a shaman who asked as a guide during this journey of self-discovery. Will stated that he had felt the massive effects of the ayahuasca experiences. It was the first thing he did with his newfound freedom. In his book, he described his first ayahuasca experience as the greatest unprecedented feeling he had experienced in all his years on earth.
The Ayahuasca ritual essentially involves drinking a substance that has two main components. The first ingredient stimulates the monoamine oxidase inhibitor found in rainforest vines. The other ingredient causes the hallucinogen N, N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) found in rainforest plants to become active in the brain.
Jaden also tried psychedelics
Will doesn’t seem to be the only Smith on the way to self-discovery.
His son Jaden Smith recently announced that his latest music releases have been inspired by psychedelics.
Bottom line
Psychedelics have received rave reviews from the blockbuster icon. With the influence he has, once the book is published and read, many people will travel to Peru to experience what he described in his book.
Will Smith’s tremendous career is what motivates many actors in and outside of Hollywood. One of Will’s videos that made him popular with a lot of people is the one in which he gave a great speech about overcoming self-doubt and fear.
Aside from his upcoming memoir, the 53-year-old also has an upcoming movie about the Tennis Williams Sisters and their father.
Look forward to a lot.
