Which legal industry is bigger: marijuana or sports betting?

They are considered a vice industry – but the masses love them. But what is greater?

The vice industry has always brought in a lot of money. Alcohol, porn, gambling, marijuana and tobacco. Alcohol is completely legal and is a $300 billion-plus industry in the US and Canada. Pornhub, the top site in this category, always ranks high in search results – usually in the top 10. But two are new to the mainstream market. So which legal industry is better: marijuana or sports betting?

Sin City has played a big role in both industries. Gambling, which is different from sports betting, is the backbone of Las Vegas… but sports betting and marijuana have left a big mark. So who is better in the growing industries? Marijuana was a $30 billion industry in 2023. That same year, Americans wagered a record $119.84 billion on sports betting, which equates to $10.92 billion in revenue. So the cannabis industry is bigger right now.
