What is TAC?

To start with, TAC stands for Total Active Cannabinoids, which is the number of detectable cannabinoids in a cannabis product. These available cannabinoids work together in synergy through what is known as the entourage effect to produce the overall effect of the natural herb. THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid in the cannabis plant matrix that creates the euphoric feeling of users during recreational use. There is more to the cannabis plant than just the THC content of the strain, however, and many cannabis users are starting to realize this reality.

This is more important when it comes to growing the natural product and less about the effects of smoking or vaping it. A low total aerobic count indicates that the number of pathogenic microbes is reduced. This makes them less risky to the cannabis plant and less likely to affect the overall yield of the growing process.

However, it is possible to achieve high total aerobic counts without the microbes being harmful to the plant. Bacillus subtilis is a common organic bacterial fungicide used by cannabis growers to limit mold growth in cannabis plants. The end product in this case has a high TAC number without it being risky for the end user. One thing noteworthy is that the total aerobics number is not advertised in the final product. This means that the TAC on the label always refers to the total active cannabinoids.

The total active cannabinoids listed on the labels of cannabis products refer to the sum of all active cannabinoids at the time of the test. The total amount of cannabinoids available for use in the product is instead referred to as the total cannabinoids. Totally active cannabinoids will not be found in cannabis products like oils, which already have all of their cannabinoids available for use.

Some of these cannabinoids have been found to interact with the body through the endocannabinoid system, which allows the cannabinoids to modulate their medicinal effects.

Flavonoids

This class of compounds is known to play the role of pigmentation. They have an antioxidant effect that helps the body get rid of unwanted free radicals when ingested. Flavonoids also affect the body’s endocannabinoid system to some extent, suggesting that it plays a role in the entourage effect of cannabis plants.

Fatty acids

The cannabis plant is home to numerous fatty acids, and while little has been researched into their effects on the entourage effect, there is early evidence that they are significant. This is because preliminary studies have shown that they can interact with the endocannabinoid system. They also make it easier for 2-AG to bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors, which are part of the body’s endocannabinoid system.
