We asked Budtender: what is the best cannabis in Canada?
Budtenders are an essential part of curating experiences for new or old cannabis users.
We test the endless sea of products to build expertise and make navigating the vast legal market easier for everyone. It’s a tough task to take on, so don’t forget to tip your favorite budtender to show your appreciation.
The role of a budtender can be difficult when you need to find something that works for so many different types of consumers. Cannabis is highly variable and what works for some won’t work for others.
One person may love skunky or gassy strains, while others hate them and want something fruitier. So, a budtender needs to know the ins and outs of different strains, cannabinoids, terpenes, and more.
After curating hundreds of orders and getting input from a handful of other seasoned budtenders, here are my recommendations for a range of products that will impress most consumers.
Craft Orange Tingz

By: High Street Cannabis
Licensed manufacturer: Quality Green
Dose: THC, 21% – 26%
Crossing TMAC #7 and Slurricane, High Street Cannabis’ Craft Orange Tingz is as citrusy as the name suggests. An aroma of orange creamsicle and a light cheesecake-like scent greet you with every toke.
The robust terpene profile includes limonene, linalool, and ocimene. If you’re looking for a new artisanal bud to try that’s well trimmed, super tasty, and potent, then look no further.
LA Kush Cake

From: Natural History
Licensed producer: Atlas Growers
Dose: THC, 23% – 28%
Who doesn’t love cake? Natural History’s LA Kush Cake has high levels of potency without sacrificing a delicious taste. The buds have a striking dark purple and bright orange glow.
LA Kush Cake offers a powerful, dense smoke for relaxation. Its terpene combination of beta-caryophyllene, humulene, limonene, and myrcene produces a sweet and smooth vanilla cake flavor with notes of sandalwood, gas, and earthiness.
CNDYLND

From: smuggling
Licensed producer: Valens Agritech
Dose: THC, 22% – 29%
As the name suggests, CNDYLND has a sweet, fruity taste like blackberry candy. The buds from this artisan grow are dense and crystalline with shades of light green and dark purple shimmering throughout.
Bred from Granddaddy Purple and Bay Platinum Cookies, this strain has a smooth but powerful smoke with a nice fruity taste for flavor lovers, coupled with a slight hint of pine.

Afghan black hash

From: vortex
Licensed producer: Vortex Cannabis
Dose: THC, 40% – 48%
If you’re looking for a sticky hash that’s highly malleable, Vortex’s Afghan Black Hash is a solid choice. It comes as a big, sticky black ball and works perfectly in joints or burns well alone in a pipe.
Its potency is quite high for legal market hash without hitting a wild price point, allowing you to unpack your hot knives without breaking the bank.
SLK Live Resin 510 thread cartridge
(Courtesy of Greybeard)
From: Greybeard
Licensed Producer: Thrive Cannabis
Dose: THC, 75% – 81%
Live resin vape cartridges offer a fresher and more flavorful vaping experience and Greybeard is your best choice for quality and potency. Your SLK Live Resin 510 cartridge has a natural lemon and pine flavor.
The terpene profile consists of alpha-pinene, beta-caryophyllene, beta-ocimene, among others. The flavor is achieved by flash freezing the buds prior to extraction, which preserves more of the plants natural terpene content than CO2 extraction, giving you the best flavor possible.
232 Series Sundae Driver Live Terpene Sticks
(Courtesy Kolab Project)
From: Kolab Project
Licensed Manufacturer: Dosecann
Dose: THC, 26.6% – 32.5%
Infused pre-rolls are fairly new to the Canadian legal market and a lot of options have popped up very quickly. If you’re looking for a great one to start with then Kolab Project’s 232 Series Sundae Driver Live Terpene Sticks are the best.
Each pack contains three 0.5 gram joints to test the effect and see the difference to regular flower pre-rolls. The flower is mixed with potent terpene sauce, giving each joint around 5% terpenes for a full-bodied smoke with a strong hit.
