Watermelon Markers – Yellowthumb, CA, Fall 2024

90 out of 100 points

Price: $55 per eighth, but varies

Few varieties have captured the taste of fresh watermelon on a summer day as well as Watermelon Marker. This collaboration began when breeder Yellowthumb requested a favor from breeder First Class Genetics (known for The Menthol and Khalifa Mints) to cross Yellowthumb's Bolo Runtz cut with Seed Junky's Permanent Marker (2023 Leafly Strain of the Year). . A 60-seed hunt later, Yellowthumb landed Blueberry Bolo (#41), Crack Bolo (#17), Watermelon Marker (#39), Bubblegum Marker (#12) and a sixth unreleased #46.

All have remarkably different flavor profiles, such as: B. the wild berry slushie from Blueberry Bolo from the Zalympix range over the gasoline nose, and there are clear differences in the effect as well as in the way.

The Watermelon Marker flower smells almost like a fresh piece of Extra Watermelon gum and the ash is bone white; maximum taste saturation and minimal background noise. These characteristics are to be expected from anything that receives a stamp of approval from powerhouse promoter Doja, but the prices this strain would command also make it an excellent value for consumers.

Watermelon Marker offers an excellent take on a new champion. —Max Blickstein
