Watching porn can lead to three relationship problems

Although pornography is almost banned in some states, it is still very popular. But be careful if you are in a relationship!

Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Utah, and Virginia have all banned Pornhub… but it's still the 10th most visited site in the U.S. and Canada. When that happens, demand for virtual private network (VPN) services increases. Texas alone saw a 234% increase the day after a new state law went into effect. Pornography has been around for thousands of years, and before there was a mass-produced Bible, mass-produced salacious images were being produced. About 66% of men watch, versus 39% of women, making it another male-centric industry. But too much porn consumption can lead to three relationship problems.

Pornography has changed significantly in the last 20 years. From print media and “personal” video stores and strip clubs to the Internet. And since 2019, OnlyFans has been around, where anyone can not only upload homemade videos but also earn money from them. The age of “authenticity” has dawned and encompasses all body shapes and interests. Although there is extensive research on the effects of pornography, a study by Psychology Today argues that when pornography is ubiquitous or plays a central role in a person's life, it can cause major problems.

Sexual satisfaction

According to one study, the more porn someone watches, the greater their need for satisfaction. The study, which surveyed over 1,500 young adults, concluded that even infrequent porn use leads to sexual dissatisfaction, despite external factors and gender. Consuming large amounts can create false expectations for everyone involved, making them believe that actual sex in person works the same way as porn. To prevent this from happening, limit the amount of porn you watch.

lonliness

Loneliness leads people to turn to porn, and porn makes people lonelier. This creates a reciprocal relationship in which each factor affects the other, regardless of the order. A study of over 1,247 participants found that porn use was significantly linked to loneliness. Single men watched more porn than any other group, and loneliness can lead to porn addiction. These people, feeling lonely, turn to porn, which provides them with temporary relief but later increases their feelings of loneliness.

Relationship stability

Another study of over 2,000 married people found that porn can cause the end of a relationship. People who started watching porn after starting a relationship were 11% more likely to break up, compared to 6% for non-porn viewers. These rates were much higher among younger people, with half of 20-year-olds breaking up.

Of course, all of this information is correlational. You can't say for sure that watching porn will cause you to face all of these problems, but studies prove that there is some sort of connection between porn and stress, even if they can't pinpoint the cause. It's always important to approach this with a clear understanding between reality and fantasy.
