Van Gogh immersive exhibit in New York City to host Cannabis Night
The popular Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit New York pop-up, dedicated to the brilliant post-impressionist Vincent Van Gogh, is partnering with cannabis lifestyle supplier HappyMunkey for a special bring-your-own cannabis (BYOC) event in New York City that allows guests to experience the exhibition after tasting the herb outside.
You have likely seen ads on your feeds for the immersive experience of one of the most respected artists in painting history. Van Gogh immersive exhibits now exist in nearly 30 major cities across the United States
The exhibition was created by artist Massimiliano Siccardi and Hamilton’s David Korins and, according to its website, “Using 60,600 video images, 90,000,000 pixels and more than 500,000 cubic feet of projections, this compelling digital art exhibition brings together cutting-edge art technology, theatrical storytelling and world-class animation.”
Siccardi’s installations have been seen by over two million visitors in Paris, France. The first demonstration of the event took place on August 11th. The second HappyMunkey After Dark event will take place on August 18 from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET. Tickets range from $ 125 to $ 200 – slightly higher than the normal $ 40 to $ 70 exhibition price.
Guests get access to a “waterfront consumer lounge experience” as smoking is prohibited within the venue. The event also provides access to a rental pillow in case you run out of energy and a swag bag filled with event-specific merchandise – including a souvenir pin and poster.
“The waterfront event and consumption lounge experience is curated by HappyMunkey, a New York cannabis lifestyle provider that provides members with access to the New York cannabis lifestyle through events, podcasts, multimedia and editorial content,” he said Company.
You can even download the Immersive Van Gogh app from Google Play or the App Store. The Lighthouse Immersive App gives you access to “unique augmented reality elements in the original Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit New York City”.
An Immersive Van Gogh pass is included in the HappyMunkey package. Cannabis is not provided, however, but the event is BYOC. In New York, adult cannabis possession is legal, but the adult retail system is not operational.
Artnet reports that the immersive Van Gogh has become a cultural phenomenon. There are pop-up events in more than 20 cities across the country.
The experience arrived in New York this summer and opened a store at Pier 36 NYC. What followed was feverish anticipation: more than 250,000 advance booking tickets had been sold before the opening, announced the organizers of the event in June.
Van Gogh and Absinthe
There is no evidence that Van Gogh smoked cannabis, but he did smoke tobacco from his familiar pipe – often just coffee and a cigarette with meals. He even believed that the stimulating effects of tobacco combined with coffee would manifest in his manic painting style.
But Van Gogh drank the mysterious green drink absinthe to excess. Absinthe has also been thought to cause the drinker to see a yellow hue around objects that some say can be seen in paintings such as “Starry Night”. But many skeptics doubt that you could have consumed enough absinthe to achieve this effect.
As early as 1977, the High Times portrayed the “Green Fairy” who was believed to cause hallucinations. However, experts have exposed many of absinthe’s exaggerated effects by saying that the psychoactive effects of thujone – the active ingredient in absinthe – are minimal at best, and that most of the effects are due to alcohol.
Absinthe is more or less a novel drink these days, consumed with a specially designed spoon and sugar cubes to complete the ritual.
