US Senate candidate Gary Chambers is at it again, visiting a cannabis dispensary after smoking a blunt on camera
By Nicolas Jose Rodriguez
Democrat Gary Chambers, who is running for a seat in the US Senate from Louisiana, recently published a campaign ad in which he smoked a sizeable blunt while sitting in an armchair, looking as cold as you can imagine . But Chambers is deadly serious about the harms of cannabis criminalization.
“Black people are four times more likely to be arrested for marijuana laws than whites,” Chambers said, citing ACLU statistics. “States waste $3.7 billion each year enforcing marijuana laws. Most of the people the police arrest aren’t dealers, they’re people with small amounts of weed, just like me.”

Chambers was at it again this week. He posted an Instagram video visiting a drive-through hemp dealership near Chicago, Marijuana Moment reported. A longtime social justice advocate in Baton Rouge, who previously ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US House of Representatives, Chambers is now up against incumbent Senator John Kennedy (R-LA).
“I’m in Illinois, and this is a drive-through pharmacy,” the Senate candidate says in the video. “You can stop and get your weed without ever getting out of your car.”
He has a point
A poll of 4,096 adults released in January by YouGov, a global opinion and data company, found that “58% of Americans would be willing to vote for a candidate they agree with on most issues and who occasionally disagrees on his Recreational marijuana smokes. ”
