Tilray publishes informational materials on medicinal cannabis
Canada-based cannabis company Tilray Brands, Inc. announced on July 19 that Tilray Medical has launched a new platform called WeCare-MedicalCannabis to provide education about the benefits of medicinal cannabis. The WeCare MedicalCannabis website was launched with tabs available for patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to search for information about medicinal cannabis.
Sascha Mielcarek, Managing Director of Tilray Europe, released a statement along with the announcement expressing the need for a clear source of information. “As global pioneers in the medical cannabis space, we recognize the lack of access to science-based, medical cannabis education,” said Mielcarek. “WeCare-MedicalCannabis was formed to fill this gap and help provide the resources needed to support patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals with the information they need to make informed decisions about medicinal cannabis. As cannabis legalization continues to spread across Europe, Tilray Medical is committed to providing informed and trusted guidance to those interested in learning more about medicinal cannabis.”
The site organizes these resources in a “who, what, when, where, how, why which” format to address and organize the information. Everything from the history of medicinal cannabis to evidence showing its unique properties and recommendations for use is available. “WeCare-MedicalCannabis provides science and research-based cannabis content tailored for healthcare professionals, caregivers and patients to help them make informed decisions about medicinal cannabis and to help them on their journey to discover how medicinal cannabis can improve everyday wellbeing and health that can support health,” Tilray’s press release stated.
WeCare-MedicalCannabis provides information based on four European markets: France, Germany, Portugal and the UK.
“Medical cannabis is nothing new. It has been used for thousands of years. But we know it’s something new, potentially confusing and even worrying for many people, whether patients, caregivers, doctors, pharmacists or other healthcare professionals,” the WeCare MedicalCannabis website states. “The WE CARE platform was designed to become the web’s most trusted and respected resource for questions related to medicinal cannabis. Whether you are just learning about medicinal cannabis or already have a basic knowledge, this website can serve as your one-stop shop for further insight into many aspects of medicinal cannabis.”
Tilray is one of the largest cannabis companies in the world and was the first company in Canada to export medical cannabis to the United States for use in clinical trials in 2018. Over the past five years, Tilray has continued to grow exponentially. Notably, Tilray Medical recently expanded its medical cannabis product portfolio for the UK in June. On July 12, the company just completed the closing transaction to acquire Hexo Corp.
Tilray CEO Irwin Simon was boxed in the 2021 High Times 100 for his 30 years of experience as a leader in the consumer products space. Earlier this April, Simon delivered a bold keynote address at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference on Tilray’s current presence in Canada. “Tilray will own Canada. It’s the largest in Canada today and it’s getting bigger,” he said. “This is an industry that’s three and a half years old and since cannabis isn’t legalized in the US, you can’t involve the institutional shareholders (…) and I love private shareholders. Today, they likely make up about 80% of Tilray’s shareholder base. We traded 25.30 million shares today. If I were on the Canadian Stock Exchange, I might have traded 200,000 shares today. This industry will continue to thrive.”
Education is a priority worldwide, and states in the US like New York have also recently made efforts to provide consumers with information. The Cannabis Talks campaign draws attention to disabled driving, parenting tools and more. “Education is the best tool to keep New Yorkers healthy as we continue to grow this safe, inclusive and just industry,” said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.
