This entrepreneur accidentally grew a two meter long weed plant in her garden

It’s surprising to say the least. Some people may not have seen the magic and chance in such a miracle. But most people are not Tabitha Fritz, a cannabis educator and entrepreneur.

The path from stubborn seeds to resilient flowering plants was a fortuitous blessing for Fritz. While she and her husband worked diligently to start Fritz’s Cannabis Company, a licensed gummy bear manufacturer, a small miracle grew in their garden.

A little Mary Jane magic

Outside behind the quarterdeck, under an awning, with no sun or nutrients, a tiny seed germinated against all odds. How does this even come about?

As ambitious home growers struggle with a difficult season and have lost harvests to powdery mildew, weather or pests, a cut joint full of seeds grew into an impressively flowering female. Quite coincidental.

“I have this large planter on my deck,” says Fritz, “I always sat there at night and drank a joint. I’m lazy, I didn’t want to get up to throw it away so I just started expressing them in this planter because I thought they would decompose in the soil. “

The planter / ashtray was on her deck all winter, and in the spring it was so disgusting that Fritz threw the earth behind her deck. That should have been the end, but Lady Jane had a different plan and lesson for life, about resilience and an open heart – even in the difficult moments.

The little kind that could

At first there was a tiny scion. “I thought it was a wild hemp plant growing there on the ground. And thought: ‘Oh cool, what kind of little savages are they?’ ”Explains Fritz. “The next time I checked it was three feet high! Those are some hearty seeds, right? To survive the winter and simply grow – this plant has to be magical. “

Now the plant is over nine feet tall and has a stem so thick that Fritz can’t even put her hand around it. In order to find sunlight in such a remote area, the plant shot up quickly. As a result, the buds are really dense and concentrated at the top of the plant. The top colas are gigantic, Fritz estimates over a meter and a half.

“The buds are thick, huge and sticky,” says Fritz. “If you come an inch closer, your hands will be covered. The sugar leaves are absolutely covered in trichomes. It’s so sticky that I could do finger hash! “

Fritz estimates the stem to be 6 inches in diameter. (Fritz via Instagram)

The exact strain will remain a mystery – can you remember all of the types of weed you smoked last year?

Fritz says the plant has very sativado-like properties. The huge fan leaves are twice the size of your hand and are long and thin. She estimates that the buds are rich in lime, caryophyllene, and terpinolene, based on the strong citrus and pepper scents that envelop her garden.

Starting a business during a pandemic

“I think, like everyone else in the world, I see life as a challenge,” says Fritz. “At the time this plant was starting to grow, my husband and I were trying to get our business going.”

The process of introducing Fritz Cannabis was more time-consuming and expensive than the couple thought. While her gummy bears are now rising from the shelves, Fritz found it difficult to maintain her connection to cannabis at the time.

“I lost my connection when I moved this business from legacy to legal. As someone who believes that the magic of the universe is really all around us, it was a really terrible feeling to lose that connection. “

This fortuitous plant was more than just a lucky mistake for Fritz, it was a metaphor and a message. She convinced herself that the plant would not end up becoming feminine because there was no way she would be so lucky.

“Ari said, ‘I have a feeling it’s a female plant and that will be a sign that everything will be fine.’ That a partner will tell you this when they see you in trouble? That was very important to me, ”says Fritz.

But she still didn’t believe it.

Around the time they discovered the plant was female, the ball started rolling for their business as well. Their gums sold out at the Ontario Cannabis Store and they received great reviews from customers. Fritz took this as a sign that beauty and resilience can grow even under difficult conditions.

“I think this experience enabled me to reconnect with the cannabis plant,” shared Fritz. “And to remind myself of the magic she has already brought into my life. I think this experience was a gift from the work to say, ‘Here, remember who you are.’ “

Bring back the joy of sharing weed

“It was a magical experience to be there. This plant has established itself where it shouldn’t grow. Nobody expected it to grow. According to all logic that shouldn’t have been possible. ”

Instead of simply enjoying the effortless grass, Fritz found a meaningful life lesson in the robust, hearty plant. As she prepares for the harvest, Fritz hopes to share this amazing miracle with her friends. She intends to keep and cure the top colas and turn the rest of the plant into hash.

It’s a hard time to share, the famous “Puff-Puff-Pass” has largely been put on hold thanks to Covid. Fritz will use this opportunity to “bring back the joy of grazing”.

“I can’t wait to share it with friends. That’s one of the other things about weed that I love so much that you share it with people. We can’t fix everything in the world right now, but I can certainly give people some of that magic that has grown in my backyard. “
