The world’s largest THC fortified brownie weighs 850 pounds
When the baking team at MariMed’s New Bedford, MA grocery factory launched a new line of THC-infused brownies, they had two ideas: Launch their Bubby’s Baked products and make it big on National Brownie Day (December 8th) . Very large.
You were successful.
This morning, to mark National Brownie Day, MariMed’s artisan pastry chefs unveiled photos of the world’s largest weed brownie. This monster Bubby’s Baked Block-of-Choc weighs 850 pounds. It is three feet wide, three feet long, and 15 inches high.
It contains 20,000 mg of THC.
That’s 200 times the dose allowed in a single packaged brownie (100 mg). So that 11.25 cubic foot brownie would be enough to get you and 199 of your closest friends quite happily high.
Panacea Wellness wears normal sizes
It’s actually not a massive dose if you shed it pound for pound. That’s a little less than 24 mg of THC per pound of brownie. If you eat a full pound of brownie, you will eat a lot of brownie.
Mini-me versions of the Bubby’s Baked Big Block are available starting today at Panacea Wellness, MariMed’s-own cannabis store in Middleborough, MA. In the coming months, the brownies will be available from pharmacies in Maryland and Delaware.
On the way to the world record
Ryan Crandall, Chief Product Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales at MariMed, led the project.
“When we started talking about it, we realized that some of us had become infatuated with the Guinness Book of Records over the years,” Crandall told Leafly. “And the idea of getting in there was exciting. That was our claim. We felt that Jake and his team could do the job. “
The largest unpoured brownie in the world weighed around 250 pounds, “so we figured we’d blow it out of the water and then add the benefit of it being infused,” added Crandall.
Does it scale?
Jake Dean, MariMed’s senior food scientist, led the team that baked the brownie. (He’s the one with the beard in the photos above.)
“We haven’t deviated too far from how we make our normal brownies,” said Dean. “Our normal product is about 10 grams per serving, and that was 850 pounds, so we had to scale everything up pretty much.”
“We had a longer baking time,” he added, “and used some baking tools to heat the center of the brownie so it baked evenly.”
The ingredients for the record breaking brownie are:
- 81 pounds of flour
- 212 pounds of butter
- 249 pounds of brown sugar
- 201 pounds of liquid sugar
- 122 pounds of cocoa powder
- 2 pounds of baking soda
- 1,344 eggs
- 5.3 pounds of vanilla extract

How do you move an 850 pound brownie?
“Very careful,” said Dean. “I built a pallet that would carry it and built some supports for the table it stood on. A bit of fastening was required. “
What happens to the brownie now?
No, you can’t stop by and cut a piece with a pocket knife.
It’s not clear whether bite-sized versions of the world record brownie are legal to sell in most states, as regulations regarding THC potency are strict. Therefore, the MariMed team plans to distribute the pieces of the large brownie within the company in accordance with state regulations.
Come on Guinness! It is a legal world now
Unfortunately, Guinness Book officials told the MariMed team that their record holders are not currently accepting cannabis records. But that didn’t stop the bakers.
“When the Guinness Book is ready to include more cannabis entries,” said Ryan Crandall, “we feel like we’re at the top of that list.”
