The wild west of CBD

71% of CBD users make their own CBD dosages and around half of them are happy with it.

A new poll on how people use CBD has been posted on Jesse Grillo’s CBD dosage page about how people use CBD or how they make their dosages! According to a survey of 1,000 CBD users, 71% of them create their own CBD dosages and half feel pretty good doing it.

Jesse published his results in the following format:

  • 26% don’t check for concentration when looking for CBD products

11% 20-40 mg
4% 40-70 mg
3% 70-100 mg
4% more than 100 mg each time

22% said they didn’t know how much they were taking

satisfaction

57% of the respondents said they were satisfied with their current dosage. 17% said they didn’t.

One of the interesting tidbits is that over 1 in 5 people actually don’t know how much CBD they are taking on any given day or at a given dosage. Basically over 7 out of 10 people compile their dosages using a “trail-and-error method” and over 1 out of 5 is not sure how much they took at the end of the day.

This indicates a blatant need for medical advice or guidance on CBD dosage that GPs either do not give or are unaware that their patients are taking CBD themselves. While the cannabis plant is not studied in medical school, and we have only seen medical quality studies on the effects of CBD for the past 5 years, many people, including doctors, simply do not know much about the plant and its cannabinoids. It is difficult to communicate dosages and concentrations to people unless there is a lot of specific dosage and action information for doctors and healthcare professionals to find and review.

Right now, CBD may calm down and lab tests are getting a lot better, but the dosage side is still the Wild West. Similar to THC-based cannabis, it says “try a small amount, see how it works, then try a larger amount” and see how your body reacts. There is trial and error in the hemp and cannabis world until full government legalization takes place and studies of different ages and dosages can be conducted to create a solid “how much” and “how often” curriculum.
