The world is changing before our eyes and I believe there are many people out there who are ill-equipped for the new economy. People are still playing by the “old rules” of money and considering that things will only get more expensive and the value of the dollar will continue to fall – I think it’s a good time to talk about different ways of making money .

Today we are going to focus on “digital assets” which I believe are one of the best ways to start building wealth in the digital age. While digital assets are definitely something anyone can do, if you’re a stoner who wants to be able to smoke weed and make money, then this is definitely a side hustle for you.

In fact, with a little ingenuity, you can use your stoner knowledge and create a digital asset that exists in the cannabis sphere. After reading this article, you should have the basics on what a digital asset is and how to start creating one today!

What is a digital asset?

When I say “digital asset,” people immediately think of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. While this is technically correct, a digital asset can be anything digital that can be used to make you money. This includes things like eBooks, MP3s, Videos, Apps, Software, NFTs, Crypto, etc.

Some digital assets give you little control, while others give you more control. For example, when you create an app, you control every aspect of it and can change it to your liking. However, if you own bitcoin, there isn’t much you can do to change bitcoin. The value of the asset depends on market perception.

While there is a lot of money to be made from NFTs, Crypto and similar digital assets, we focus on “high control” assets embedded in their source code.

Easiest digital assets to create

By far one of the easiest digital assets to create is a website. Technically it is very simple. You could go to Square Space and have a website up and running in a matter of hours. However, this site will only be one in a million and without the right guidance or thought it would be a worthless asset. Nonetheless, it’s still an asset.

Other easy-to-build assets include:

• Books

• videos

• MP3s (music, soundscapes, jingles, VO)

• Websites (Membership, Blog, Ecommerce, etc.)

• Streaming/Podcasting

While each of these has its own level of difficulty, you may be more inclined to choose one over the other depending on your natural talents.

Find a market

Creating a digital asset doesn’t mean much if there’s no one buying it. Therefore, in many cases, you should do market research before you even build anything. To find the right market you should;

1. Find something you’re naturally better at than most people you know

2. Make sure there is an actual market (people are selling and buying within your niche) **Competition is good!

3. Work on consumer profiles

There are markets for practically everything on this planet. If you’re looking to sell Smurf memorabilia, there’s likely a group large enough to make some money. Of course you want markets that are a bit “broader” than Smurf gear – but if you like cartoons, maybe you could have a general website that sells t-shirts and other memorabilia from various animated series. You’d have to figure out the licensing, but that’s something that can be done.

Your consumer profiles are important as this will help you focus your digital assets. So you can learn what they want and how to get their solutions so you can connect with your ideal buyer.

Structure of the asset

I’ll go through the points quickly, but once you’ve identified your market and laid out your overall plan, you want to build the asset. This means writing the book, creating the website, shooting the video, etc. This may take some time, the trick is not to rush it.

When creating a digital asset, quality should be the number one priority. There is so much shit out there because people focus on the money and not the product or solution you are trying to solve. Focus on providing value to your consumers and they will reward you with money, but if you focus on money you will cut corners and not deliver the quality that dollars deserve.

Market your wealth

After you build it, the real problem begins. You will want to market your wealth, which means;

Luckily, most companies don’t have a traffic problem – they have a “storage problem”. This is because they are buying traffic with no real marketing funnel. Your digital asset needs to be created in order for your perfect buyer to move through the stages of being ready to buy your asset. Ultimately, it comes down to consumer trust.

Your marketing funnel is designed to help your buyers move down the pipeline, gaining more trust and a perceived value to inspire action — i.e., a purchase.

After you’ve built your fortune, you should focus on perfecting the marketing funnel.

Reinvest as soon as you hit gold!

It may take time for people to start buying your assets or using your service, but once you see some money coming your way, you reinvest most of it. You’re going to want to turn your small revenue stream into a mighty river.

For books, this means increasing sales. For membership sites, growing signups, for blogs that depend on advertising revenue… traffic.

Always invest a good chunk of your money back into your business and keep expanding. When it comes to building digital assets you want to scale as large as possible as there are no physical costs of production or distribution – you have a high margin for returns and your biggest spend should be marketing.

People associate “digital commerce” with ease, when in reality it’s just as difficult as anything worthwhile.
