The Cannabis Mixologist – Instead of tobacco, try mixing these herbs with your weed

Instead of tobacco, use these herbs to mix with your cannabis (mainly for Europeans)

If you live in a country where cannabis is widespread, cheap, and easily accessible, mixing it with tobacco is tantamount to a sin. However, if you’re from countries like Europe where cannabis is significantly more expensive or hashish ranks first – mixing tobacco with cannabis is common practice.

Now, don’t get me wrong, when I was still smoking tobacco I eventually came to appreciate the blend. However, as a non-smoker these days, having to smoke tobacco because weed is too expensive sucks.

Additionally, with a little creativity, you can whip up your own herbal blends that will even affect your high in different ways. You can create new canna-herb blends that help stretch your weed but also reduce all the risks associated with nicotine.

While some of the herbs on this list are meant for vaping and not smoking, you can experiment at home to create your own herbal blend that will take you to the moon and back.

Let’s get “Herby”!

Kratom for some psychedelic vibes

While I wouldn’t abuse this first candidate, it’s definitely worth investigating at one point. Kratom is often used as a supplement to pain relievers and can be addictive if used in large quantities. However, most users do not experience any negative side effects and, when used in moderation, can relieve many pains.

What happens when you mix cannabis with kratom? You get an almost narcotic sensation where you feel like you are being overwhelmed by heaviness. However, if you suffer from chronic pain, this blend could be just what you’re looking for.

When vaping, you should choose a temperature setting between 175°C and 200°C.

lavender and mint

Blend these two in a ratio of 50% cannabis, 25% lavender, and 25% mint for a smooth, relaxing smoke that tastes great. When you smoke these three herbs together you will find that the high is much more relaxing, less paranoia and more good times.

When you smoke other herbs for the first time, only add about 25% extra herbs.

Marihuanilla and Passion Flower

I’m quoting this directly from Zamnesia;

A subtle blend of marihuanilla, passionflower, and cannabis is another blend that has become popular recently. It has a smooth and sweet taste, but it doesn’t overpower the taste of the cannabis, and the high is different than using weed alone.

The high is described as more energetic and clearer. It makes sense considering that passionflower is often used with other psychedelics to enhance and prolong their effects. Some people choose to exclude the passionflower and only use the marijuanilla/cannabis mix as a tobacco substitute.

The preferred temperature for vaping passionflower is 150-160°C and for marihuanilla 150-175°C. – Source

Chamomile tea (and other teas)

If you are European you should have ample access to a wide variety of teas. Chamomile is a perfect herb to substitute for tobacco. Not only is it cheap and easy to find, it’s also non-addictive, meaning you won’t get “addicted to chamomile.”

More importantly, it doesn’t have too much of an impact on the cannabis itself. It simply serves as a “bed” to rest your cannabis on, allowing you to stretch your weed far.

Blue lotus

If you want to significantly increase your euphoria, get blue lotus. While the taste may be a bit bitter, the side effects are definitely worth it. This is something you’ll want to mix with your herb even if you don’t have to.

If you want to experience trippy, almost psychedelic vibes while smoking regular weed, then adding Blue Lotus is definitely one of the wiser things to do.

damian

If you’re in the do-shit room, this is the additive you want. Where Blue Lotus makes you stumble harder, Damiana gives you energy. This is something artistically inclined people should try at least once. It’s long been associated with stimulating creativity, and we know that weed does the same!

The big problem with this herb is that it’s a bit “peppery.” Some people may not get used to the flavor or intensity of the smoke. For that, trying something like chamomile or another tea would work.

But isn’t smoking this stuff dangerous?

You don’t seem to have a problem burning herbs and inhaling the smoke when you smoke weed, these herbs I’ve listed have been smoked for thousands of years. The fact is, there are many people who smoke herbs like cloves and never touch cannabis.

Ashwaganda

I didn’t know too much about it, but luckily Herb.co had something on this particular plant;

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an adaptogenic root. An adaptogen is a medicinal herb that helps your body respond to stress. This root has been used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and is growing in popularity in the West. Some studies have shown that ashwagandha has anxiolytic and antidepressant properties. The herb was pitted against the anti-anxiety drug lorazepam (Ativan) and the antidepressant imipramine (Tofranil) in an animal study. Research found that ashwagandha showed anti-anxiety and antidepressant effects comparable to both drugs. This led the study authors to conclude that ashwagandha has potential as a mood stabilizer. Traditionally, the herb is used against tiredness, lack of energy and concentration difficulties. – Source

Become a herbal mixologist!

At the moment we’ve never had the opportunity to smoke weed in a “bar environment”, but that will change in the years to come. In fact, even if you don’t “need” to specifically mix an herb with cannabis, learning how to do it is probably a smart thing to do.

I can see that at some point in the future people will be ordering special “mixtures” that might contain a blend of these herbs. Maybe something like 60% cannabis, 10% blue lotus, 10% damiana, and 20% lavender could be called “lazy jimmy” or something like that.

Do you see what I’m getting at with this? There is a huge potential market for specialty herbal blends, especially now that cannabis can be used as a “base herb.”

Are there any special blends that you particularly like? Let me know in the comments!
