The cannabis-infused freezie of my dreams hits retail stores in Ontario in July

This summer, RAD is getting thanks to a new freezable edible, the first of its kind in Canadian cannabis. That’s right, certain provinces are on the verge of gaining access to the first cannabis-infused freezie. With summer heat waves ravaging Canada from coast to coast, the excitement for this product is palpable.

Heritage Cannabis Holdings Corp announced in early June that they would be releasing the RADsicle in time for the summer. This product is essentially the adult freezie of my dreams, even if the dose is limited to a THC limit of 10 mg.

The introduction of this product has heartwarming roots. David Schwede, president of Recreational for Heritage, tells Leafly that he thought of this while shopping with his daughter.

Swede saw the regular Freezies and knew that an infused version would be a disruptive factor in the edibles category. “We hear a lot of positive feedback on the RADsicle format and consumers are really looking forward to the purchase,” says Schwede.

“Each of the four flavors – Cherry, Grape, Cream Soda and Blue Raspberry – are made from a high quality cannabis distillate combined with a proprietary blend of ingredients that leaves little to no cannabis taste.”

The product will debut in the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) in July. Swede says the rollout will later include British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland / Labrador, Quebec, and eventually the medical markets.

There are several dosage options that consumers can experience – the product will be available as a RADsicle containing 10 mg of THC or as a pack of four flavors containing 2.5 mg of THC each.

Whether or not these freezies are really radical remains to be seen. However, it’s hard to deny the innovation and perfect timing of Canada’s first infused frozen treat.
