Students for a sensible drug policy

Resources for students interested in harm reduction methods can be noted by those on the front lines. Those students who take time outside of their prime to make society more civilized. There are many student groups and some national student organizations.

One of them is the Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy, or CSSDP. * The Canada-based grassroots organization is a network of students and youth who deal with the negative effects of current drug or drug policy at the national level. These affect the individual. These affect communities.

A natural movement

The whole idea is for the youth to come together to carry out reforms, step by step, or piece by piece, at the national or local level. Current approaches are punitive rather than mitigating and tend to worsen results over time.

With a reaction to keep punishing the users, which makes the problems worse. So the harm reduction approach is a natural change in movement toward something healthier.

The main evidence-based approach to health and wellbeing now is harm reduction when the goal is to reduce harm to individuals and communities. The CSSDP orients itself on this basis.

More about CSSDP

What you have with these youth movements are smart and active young people who band together to produce content that is relevant to all ages, but they are geared towards a youthful audience.

They have university chapters. These chapters provide support networks on campus and connections to the national board and the CSSDP as a whole. If students are interested in starting a chapter or getting involved in harm reduction activities on campus, these are great resources for you.

They currently have chapters in Quebec Montreal (Regional), Concordia University, McGill University, UBC Okanagan, UBC Vancouver, University of Calgary, Edmonton (Regional), University of Dalhousie, Ottawa (Regional), Ryerson University, University of Ottawa, University of Toronto, Queen’s University, University of Guelph and uWindsor.

Be included

If you’d like to get involved with the CSSDP, feel free to leave a message anytime to see what’s going on. Since these movements are people who may be short of money, any financial assistance will be greatly appreciated.

They have a fundraising page for those who can help with this. This could be goods, on-time PayPal donations, or Patreon donations. All forms of financial support are helpful.

If you want to support cannabis culture on a national level and work to reduce harm to people who use substances within the scope of individual autonomy, then this is one of the great organizations for you or other youngsters.
