Start of sales for legal pot deliveries in Denver, Colorado

Denver, Colorado-based drugstore Strawberry Fields and Doobba delivery service announced that cannabis shipments will be open to the public today, August 23. The companies completed their first six legal cannabis shipments on August 19 during a soft-launch round of testing.

Strawberry Fields is the first Denver pharmacy to receive a delivery permit, while Doobba was the first Denver delivery service to be licensed, and several other companies are close to operating.

In order for a pharmacy to offer delivery, it must either qualify under a social justice label designed to benefit communities negatively impacted by the war on drugs or work with a social justice company – in this case, Doobba. Strawberry Fields opted for the latter route and worked with Doobba to meet the city’s demands.

According to the city code, pharmacies cannot deliver themselves; instead, they have to go through third-party transport companies. The city has issued four van licenses, according to the city of Denver.

Doobba’s owners, the married couple Ari and Karina Cohen, plan to expand into more pharmacies in the future. Ari qualified for social justice status because he was previously arrested “Before Lives” for cannabis. According to Doobba co-founder Ari, the company was about to sign a supply agreement for L’Eagle and is in talks with other companies like Seed & Smith.

“We are very excited to deliver cannabis to customers in Denver and Aurora,” Doobba co-founder and CEO Karina Cohen told The High Times. “It is a first step in helping Doobba end the cannabis ban. Customers who live in Denver and Aurora can also sign up for an unlimited delivery membership on doobba.com. “

Both Cohens have long histories in the cannabis industry and together look forward to taking on these new challenges.

How cannabis dispensing works

Ordering cannabis deliveries works similarly to ordering food or alcohol to be delivered to your door. Think DoorDash for weed. Customers go to the Doobba or Strawberry Fields websites, or they can use one of several online pharmacy menu services such as I Heart Jane for delivery. You then choose a time frame for delivery and receive SMS updates on the progress of your order.

Doobba currently gives customers a two hour time frame for deliveries.

Denver allows people 21 and older to order cannabis for delivery between 8am and 12pm.

Last July, Doobba filed its first application for a license to supply cannabis. For the time being, Strawberry Fields will be relying on Doobba to deliver deliveries across the city of Denver in the early stages of deployment.

Currently, only five other pharmacies are approved for delivery in Denver: Cookies, Denver Kush Club, Diego Pellicer, L’Eagle, and Star Buds. But Strawberry Fields and Dooba are the first to go live as none of the other delivery services have yet launched. A small number of shops and transport companies are currently awaiting city approval.

It looks like several other companies are looking to get involved in cannabis delivery as well. “Most people still don’t know this is available,” Cohen told Westword. “As with anything new, it usually takes a year for everyone in Denver to realize they can. We’ll do our best to get to that point within three months. ”Delivery sales are becoming a convenient way to order cannabis in the area.
