So read while high
Grass is one of the most malleable substances there is. It can be used for a wide variety of activities from watching movies to parties to better exercising. Reading is probably one of the toughest activities you can do while you’re high, and it takes some dedication from your brain that, when some factors aren’t working, can be too difficult to achieve.
Much like any other activity while high, you really need to practice to be successful. Marijuana can add many layers to reading, make the experience more enjoyable, or even help you reconnect with it if you’ve had difficulty reading entire books.
Just like listening to music and reading, getting high and reading can help create a better mood to read. Once you get this step you will find that you are more relaxed and engaged with the story and that the weed will help you get into the right zone. Here are some tips to help you read while high:

If you’re just starting to combine weed and books, you don’t want to start with dense literary novels. Try reading something that feels easy for you to read, going back to something you read in your teens, or a genre that is simple and obsessive, like romance or horror. Good reading ideas are the Harry Potter books or something by Stephen King. A graphic novel can also be a really good starting point.

Reading lends itself to very ritualistic behaviors. Some people prefer to read paper books and can only read when surrounded by complete silence. While there is no judgment, you will be more successful if you can read in a variety of situations. Practice reading in different places, even if it’s only 5 or 10 minutes at a time. When you are high try your best to read and enjoy yourself, and avoid stress if your mind cannot capture all of the words on the page.

The strain you smoke will have an impact on your overall reading experience. Try to avoid sleepy stress as it will make a relaxing activity even more relaxing and will make you fall asleep, which is great but doesn’t really serve the purpose of this article. Choose a strain that is cerebral yet reserved, something that will help you feel creative but also grounded. Ask your budtender about a light indica or sativa that doesn’t create too much fear.

When you start your weed reading journey, pay attention to your dosage and take a few hits to see how your body deals with this new experience. You can still smoke later if you need more, but it helps to start slowly. Happy reading!
