Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Cannabis Review

Hand it to Snoop, California’s seasoned cannabis smokers won’t get bammer weed from Dogg’s new cannabis brand, Death Row.

Snoop Dogg acquired and reissued the famous Death Row Records in 2022. Dogg has since wisely delegated the duties of cannabis selection to his team, led by AK – a longtime West Coast grower who, along with former partner WizardTrees, has helped breed favorites like RS11 and Studio 54 (aka RS54).

On California pharmacy shelves this winter, glittering metal Death Row Mylar bags contain four hot indoor strains: Strawberry Gary, LA Runtz, SFV OG, TropiCherry (aka TropCherry, CherryTrop).

AK hand selected each strain in the Death Row range from small batches grown across its extensive network to keep quality high. With a recent drop in select Cookies stores, fans of the Death Row and Canasseurs brand are wanting to know if the famous Dogg can deliver. We tapped each other and came back with these notes.

Strawberry Gary

Strawberry Gary is a sweet, creamy, gassy and fruity hybrid that smells heavenly upon opening the mylar. Smoking the flower delivers exactly what the nose promises with strawberries and cream on the palate coupled with a funky batter in the backend. A hint of gum lingers as the smoke clears, making you want to come back for more. Perfect for meditation and relaxation, the effects are primarily concentrated in the head, leaving you clear and motivated. A gentle surge of body high keeps the body calm without increasing the heart rate. Serge von Cookies Maywood chased the Strawberry Gary out of a pack from Washington breeder Exotic Genetix Gary Payton x Red Pop, merging two All-Star flavors into 2023 Weed.

SFV AND

SFV OG is the old-school flower in the lineup, offering everything you’ve come to expect and expect from a proper OG. The aroma has a chewy mint scent, as if you’ve just crushed a Mentos between your teeth. Sweet, herbaceous notes of juniper, dough and dry color follow. Smoking the herb will transport you back to 2005 as rich notes of pine, hops, malt and sweet earth swirl in your senses. Like any good OG, this one has some heavy effects. Be prepared for cravings and some couchlock as the indica body high effects are the most prevalent.

LA Runtz

LA Runtz is the exotic floral selection in the lineup and arguably produces the strongest effects of the four. The aroma is a skillful blend of hard parmesan cheese, wild musk and grape big league bubblegum. Huge terpenes of airy batter, grape and cherry fruit leather delight the palate, followed by a big burst of oily musk at the end. The user is left in a foggy daze, with limbs relaxed and muscle relief throughout the body. Certainly a hybrid not intended for beginners – LA Runtz will most likely be the most popular strain from Death Row.

Finally, Tropi Cherry (aka Trop Cherry, Cherry Trop) is the closest thing to a pure sativa, offering consumers the chance to choose from a wide range of flavors and medicinal effects among all other strains. On the nose, this has all of the classic terps from Tropicana Cookies with a modern twist. The aroma is a slurry of herbaceous camphor, tropical fruit and orange peel that ends up smelling like a citrus bug spray with a bit of pine sol. Smoking Tropi Cherry delivers many of the same terpenes on the nose, with an added emphasis on the orange and citronella at the top of the spectrum, while adding a bit of gassy batter, keeping the flavor smooth rather than bitter and medicinal. Perfect for a day outdoors or a long hike, this flower won’t slow you down but will transport the user to a state of euphoric bliss, with light pressure on the head and a clear head.

Overall, this first batch of releases from Death Row Cannabis produces some good beats. But they must have a real cracker on their hands.
