Smoking weed doesn’t automatically make you cool, says new study (but it sure helps!)
It’s typical for teenagers to use marijuana because they think it makes them look cool. While cannabis overdoses aren’t the worst consequence of cannabis legalization – a ridiculous fallacy, if we have to say this – it is instead that weed has lost its overall cool.
We’re not advocating that kids should use marijuana recreationally, but how things have changed. Cannabis was once the drug of choice for youth, anchored in the Youth Summer of Love, in the hippie movement, and in college dorms across the country. However, the concept of marijuana as a cool substance is disappearing due to legalization.
According to researchers at Harvard Community College, cannabis can make certain people “less cool.” So what does cannabis symbolize today as a culture, way of life and lifestyle? Do kids still think that’s cool? Anyone still think weed is cool?
Details of the experiment
According to a new survey from Harvard Community College in Santa Monica, California, using cannabis doesn’t make the consumer “cool.” The study, released Thursday, found that weed might actually make people “less cool” depending on their environment, income, hygiene and IQ.
The study included 374 volunteers aged between 12 and 99, all of whom reported frequent use of cannabis (3+ times per week). They were asked about topics like “Why do you smoke?” questioned. “What exploitable talents do you have?” and “When was the last time you flossed?” In addition, subjects were asked to bring pictures of their homes for analysis by the research team.
The study’s chief scientist, Dr. Wallaby Frank, told the High Times that the inspiration for the study came from watching Dazed and Confused.” “Say, dude, do you have a joint?” says Matthew McConaughey’s character, and Mitch replies, “No, not with me, man.” “It would be way cooler if you did,” says McConaughey.
In his words, Wallaby thought, shouldn’t Matthew McConaughey, the pinnacle of cool, already have a joint on him? So he was fascinated by the concept of cool and what it really meant, especially when it came to cannabis.
Frank and his team of four other researchers conducted an interview with each subject and then scored each subject’s responses, grading them based on their overall appearance and responses. Anyone who claimed to smoke because it was trendy was immediately labeled “uncool,” according to Frank. They also put a huge red stamp on people under the age of 18 because they’re teenagers and barely have a well-developed brain.
.”
Other telltale signs of “uncoolness” related to cannabis use include making less than $35,000 a year, having more than $10,000 in debt (excluding mortgages), and not being able to play the piano to play. Other indicators are:
-
Never leave the country of origin.
-
Eat a diet with 60% or more processed foods.
-
Tip less than 20%.
-
Sweaty palms.
-
Trembling knees.
-
The decision to create a social media account dedicated solely to mushrooms, guns, and weed.
Observation and Conclusions
A lot of people think they’re cool just because they smoke marijuana. However, this is inaccurate, explained another researcher who worked on the paper, Jill-Rose Neemoy. Do you know who also uses cannabis? Drugs.” When asked why she smoked, one participant replied, “Life’s a slob and then you die.” Others, considered “cool,” had a genuine interest in the plant and knew all sorts of little things about it Weed classifications, cannabinoids and the cannabis industry in general.
Frank’s interview with High Times revealed that the study was extremely difficult to measure. He and his colleagues would all agree that this man is cool when he walks in nice dressed and smelling of smoke, you know, with a big smile on his face. However, if we asked him a simple question like, “When did World War I begin?” he wouldn’t answer, which made him seem less cool.
On the other hand, Frank added, someone else would come dressed like a hippie, with no shoes and no sticks in his beard, but then he would delve into free jazz, theoretical statistics, and endocrinology. He wondered to himself if he was the one conducted the study, or whether it was the individual.
The results eventually came back evenly distributed. However, the researchers were not satisfied with a 50/50 split of the results, so Dr. Wallaby Frank enrolled as the 375th volunteer.
According to Neemoy, Dr. Frank a remarkable person. He makes more money than us, which is excellent. We saw pictures of his apartment which was immaculate and well maintained. He’s hilarious and intelligent. However, we ultimately chose to classify him as uncool simply because it’s probably one of the least cool criteria you can use to judge someone by their looks and whether or not they’re aware of the start of WWI .
Neemoy went on to be fair, Dr. Frank totally agreed, and the rest of us would have fallen into the same category if we had participated in the study.
Conclusion
Cannabis is no longer for the exclusive cool kids club. Elon Musk uses it, moms do, and most Canadian cops can use it under the new law (off-duty, of course). Since 2006, the number of baby boomers using it has doubled. Monthly marijuana users among those aged 65 and over have also increased significantly (this number was near zero in the mid-2000s). Everyone you never thought would use cannabis before is now doing so. Perhaps the OLCC could do a better job of warning teenagers not to set themselves on fire with their grandparents.
With legalization pushing cannabis into the mainstream, it’s safe to say that most people are now using cannabis. Hence the need to redefine cool in relation to cannabis. according to dr Frank and his research team does not automatically make smoking cannabis cool. To be worthy of this label, you must now know more and have extensive knowledge about cannabis and the cannabis industry as a whole
