[REVIEW] High Off the Cure Company’s Fritz
It seems like a new strain vies for our attention every month. Fancy Mylar, rapper founder das – nine out of ten times the hype doesn’t do justice to the product. While consumers are hungry for the new, many brands are simply hurrying into the market, hoping that their marketing and influencer network will sell their product. Unfortunately for them, the most overlooked and frankly most important factor in starting a new genetic or growing it for the top shelf is your breeder’s strength. That’s why I drop everything when The Cure Company says they have the new fire.
Founded in 1996 – the same year that Prop. 215 was launched – it is clear to even the most extreme outsider that these guys care about their products and that they produce something special. While frequent High Times readers should be more than familiar with The Cure Company by now, their time in space should be the first sign of those who don’t know. You won’t last that long in the industry if you don’t know what you’re doing or if your product is poor quality. Industry will eat you up. On the contrary, The Cure Company has successfully weathered the waves of legalization – not only like most, but also in terms of reputation and skills.

The Cure Company is the theme of our brand spotlight in the September Art Issue especially for the diversity and liveliness of its varieties and has been bringing outstanding flavors with their own unique note to the market for years. In the past I’ve written about their Curelato, his descendant King-lato, and I’ve even posted some references to this particular strain on my quarantine cop list, but now it’s time to open the kimono further …
Introduction of Fritz
The latest branded strain, grown by The Cure Company team and bred by Seed Junky’s incomparable J Beezy, stands out in almost every way. With quaint buds absolutely covered in trichomes, it wouldn’t be a Cure Co staple if the nose didn’t flick back. Using a sample of several of the various iconic cannabis terpenes, the Fritz creates an aroma that ranges from pine to diesel to mint and all comes through in the smoke.

While many of these flavors suggest that you can expect a knockout, this is a truly balanced hybrid that offers both energy and relaxation – a rare combination! It goes on and I know it’s in production right now and not there yet, but you’ll want to keep an eye on Cure Co’s packaging updates for the next several months.
They are preparing to list their terpene profiles of their strains on the packaging to better educate the consumer, even if the state of California is not yet interested in helping. I think we all agree that this is an important step in the right direction and a big reason to shop with these guys, even if you just dip your toes in the room – anyone who wants to help you understand what works for you and doesn’t just say whatever you had that day is someone to trust.
While the brand knows that taste is paramount, it’s worth noting that the Fritz was at 32.3 percent THC for those of you out there who only buy percentages. (And if that is you, I hope you start digging deeper as you look for the fire – you will be misled with this number alone …)
A world of taste
While the Fritz can of course also stand on its own, The Cure Company knows exactly how to bring out their unique varieties. With seven crosses already in production and some already on the shelves, Fritz’s co-cross with the genetics that the market has already dictated is category leaders like Biscotti and Gelato and has come up with a product that has the best of elements of both united – just like they did with their Curelato cut.

After the Fritz and its Animal Cookies hybrid, Animal Fritz, made their debut a few weeks ago, the latest flavors to hit shelves are Miami Fritz and Biscotti Fritz, which have already taken the terpenes to new heights. When I got in I expected Miami Fritz to be the king of the litter, but the Biscotti hybrid not only got me pissed off, it also delivered a unique flavor that I can’t run back to.
Her upcoming releases include Triangle Fritz, Curelato Fritz, and a yet-to-be-mentioned stoker whom I have named ‘Skinny Fritz’ but who will likely be named differently, so keep an eye on The Cure Company socials for the drops, or go to City Compassionate Nurses to see what’s in store. After smoking all of the flavors that are on store shelves today, I’m excited to report that each of these flavors is really going down well. Trust, if you’ve been a fan of the curelato, a real treat awaits.
