Real THC is a must in true full-spectrum CBD oil

Kentucky’s very own Cornbread Hemp crafts full-spectrum, organic gummies, oils, and topicals straight from hemp flowers.

Cannabis just feels different when grown with love and care, especially when grown by farmers with knowledge of the plant that runs deep. Consumers in THC-friendly states can identify an artisanal harvest fairly easily, but with hemp-derived CBD, it’s harder to find quality products in a sea of CBD companies trying to make money. And now that lab-synthesized cannabinoids are on the rise, finding the good stuff gets even harder.

Kentucky-based hemp brand Cornbread Hemp is refreshingly uncomplicated: all-natural, full-spectrum products made from locally grown, organic hemp flowers, just like you’d expect from a premium THC brand. It even contains up to 0.3 percent naturally occurring THC, which is the most allowed under the 2018 Farm Bill, non-lab grown cannabinoids like delta-8 and THC-O. It’s just as healthy as homemade cornbread, with up to 2mg of THC per serving.

The brand’s full spectrum, USDA-certified organic CBD gummies, tinctures, capsules, and topicals feel like cannabis you’d get off a pharmacy shelf, and that’s by design.

Cornbread Hemp was founded by former journalist Jim Higdon and his cousin Eric Zipperle, both ardent supporters of cannabis legalization. The two don’t see hemp and traditional cannabis as separate, they simply grow cannabis that conforms to the guidelines of federal law.

Other CBD brands either downplay their THC content, use the lack of THC as a selling point, or stuff their products with lab-grown THC like Delta-8 or THC-O. What sets Cornbread apart is that it’s not a CBD brand, it’s a cannabis brand – in that it contains only the natural cannabinoids from hemp flowers grown in Kentucky, with no stalks, leaves, stalks, or weird things.

Journalists from Food & Wine, BuzzFeed and Health Magazine rave about it.

Kentucky’s Hemp Heritage

The first hemp crop in Kentucky was planted in 1775, almost 250 years ago, and for more than a century the state was the largest hemp producer in the United States. After the “Hemp for Victory” effort during World War II, Kentucky’s booming hemp industry suddenly went dark, except for a few farmers who wouldn’t keep quiet.

The name Cornbread Hemp comes from the subject of co-founder Higdon’s first non-fiction book, The Cornbread Mafia. It tells the story of the largest indigenous cannabis syndicate in the country, which was of course based in Kentucky. The bluegrass state has always made it big with cannabis. The cornbread mafia began their massive cannabis cultivation in the early 1970s, just as the federal government classified cannabis as a Schedule I drug, and they continued through the 1980s, up to a spate of more than 70 arrests at 30 farms in 10 States with 200 tons of cannabis in the late 80’s eventually shut them down.

Kentucky was just one of a handful of states establishing pilot hemp production programs when the 2014 Farm Bill opened the door — and with the 2018 Farm Bill fully legalizing hemp cultivation, hemp was once again part of the state’s booming agricultural industry.

Cornbread hemp combines this local heritage and grows high quality crops on the 37th parallel, the same line of latitude that runs through the mountains of the Hindu Kush. While writing his book, Higdon learned about the ins and outs of the cannabis industry — and about Kentucky’s unique climate that makes it the best place to grow hemp. His cousin Eric Zipperle knew good products and the ins and outs of a good deal, which made them the perfect match.

Together they set out to make not just better hemp, but an entire industry to be proud of – and their dedication to cannabis has made them thought leaders in the industry. They are frequently cited as experts in the field in publications such as Bloomberg News, New York Daily News and POLITICO.

Flower-Only™ and full spectrum for better cannabis

Usually, when someone buys cannabis flower from a THC dispensary, they get buds, not shakes and certainly not stems. Those in states without a legal THC cannabis market deserve the same quality, but they don’t usually get it. Quality CBD oil lives in the buds, but to save time and money, many producers simply process the entire plant at once and pass the inferior products on to their customers. Cornbread Hemp gets its CBD oil straight from the source, taking the time to properly harvest its plants – which really should be the bare minimum a hemp farmer does – for the Flower Only™ difference.

Some hemp producers save on compromises by only using CBD isolates that lack the subtle compounds that work together to produce more robust effects. The rich oil that cornbread hemp receives is truly full spectrum, not only with CBD, but also with minor cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and, yes, real delta-9 THC. Each one of these elements makes the others work better, and CBD cannot be its best self without THC.

Unfortunately, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find CBD products that contain naturally occurring THC — many CBD brands that advertise THC in their products use lab-synthesized alternatives like Delta-8. Cornbread’s THC was grown along with the rest of the plant on an organic farm, not brewed in a lab.

CBD-dominant hemp can be just as life-changing as THC-dominant cannabis, so why should hemp users miss out?
