Rating: Dr. Dabber Stella Vaporizer

dr Dabber is known for its high quality, stylish and functional electronic dab rigs. The Stella is their latest dab pen, improving on the original vape pen, the Aurora. True to the brand, the Stella is effortlessly stylish, easy to use and offers a slim, portable option for dabbing concentrates.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Dr. Dabber Stella Vaporizer Pen need to know.

what is the dr Dabber Stella?

The Stella is a vape pen for cannabis concentrates. The handheld is housed in matte black stainless steel with an internal ceramic heating chamber that vaporizes all types of concentrates at the push of a button.

It’s small and compact for portability, but heavy enough to feel like a premium device.

What’s included?

Each Stella vaporizer kit includes:

  • Vape pen body with internal battery
  • Magnetic mouthpiece
  • Atomizer with internal ceramic bowl
  • USB-C charger
  • loading tool

The nebulizer chamber is disposable, with the recommendation to replace it after 1-3 months depending on frequency of use. Replacing is as easy as unscrewing the used one and screwing on the new one for $30. It’s time to swap it out for a new one if it’s dark and/or crusted, cracked, or has noticeable issues like leaking, reduced vapor production, or a burnt taste.

How does the Stella work?

As with other Dr. Dabber products, using the Stella pen is simple and intuitive. The mouthpiece magnetically snaps in and out to reveal the ceramic atomizer chamber, which has substantial capacity.

Begin by loading the concentrate of your choice into the chamber and filling it halfway. There is a single control button that turns the pen on or off with five clicks. From there, double-click the power button to start the preheat cycle, which will flash purple. Cycle through the three temperature settings to customize each hit by clicking the same button three times.

The power button flashes in the appropriate color to indicate the temperature setting:

  • Green: 550°F
  • Blue: 630°F
  • Orange: 775°F

To use, press and hold the power button to activate the selected heating cycle and inhale. It is recommended to start with gentle inhalations until you get a feel for each heat setting. As usual, the lower heat setting optimizes flavor and the higher heat setting offers a stronger, denser cloud. Across the board, hits are smooth and strong, but don’t taste burnt.

Note: When the unit is on and/or warm, it should be kept upright to avoid oil spillage. If you keep it in a purse or bag when you’re on the go, allow it to cool completely before packing it again.

load

Charging the Stella Vaporizer is easy with the included USB-C cable, which plugs into the side of the device on one end and into a standard USB charging block or wall outlet on the other.

The power button flashes white while charging, then turns green when fully charged. You’ll know it’s time to charge when the power button flashes three times, showing the color that corresponds to the current temperature setting.

cleaning

The pen works best when kept clean, which includes cotton swabs and 91% isopropyl alcohol. The mouthpiece contains an airflow regulator that can be removed by piercing the end of the mouth with the loading tool. These two components can be soaked in alcohol for no more than 10 minutes, which should remove all residues, and then air dried.

The atomizing chamber can be dry heated for five seconds, and then wiped lightly with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol, and then dry heated for another five seconds. All parts should be completely air dried before assembly and use. The connection points between the evaporator unit and the battery should also be wiped clean with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol when replacing.

What’s the appeal?

The Stella Vaporizer Pen by Dr. Dabber is a high quality portable dab pen with a contemporary look and feel and is easy to use. Any device that offers consistent dabs with a range of temperature settings is valuable, and this device gets major points for being unfussy and simple. Able to reliably produce good hits and coming in under $100 makes this unit a great value by industry standards.

The only downside is that heavy users will have to replace the $30 atomizer several times a year. The average consumer will likely replace the atomizer four times a year, resulting in a $120 usage fee, but for $10 a month it’s still a lot considering the premium design and ease of use. Replacing the atomizer also means the device stays in its best shape longer and will no doubt increase the overall life of the pen.

All in all, the Stella Pen is a welcome and appreciated addition to portable dab devices.
