President Biden made promises of forgiveness, but were they nothing but hot air?
There have been promises of pardon, but that seems like nothing but hot air!
The concept of political promises and failure to keep them has been a recurring theme throughout the story. From the Treaty of Versailles, which promised an end to the war but instead led to another global conflict, to the New Deal, which promised relief, recovery, and reform but did little to actually address the Great Depression, it’s clear that the promises of government are often empty and untenable.
This is not to say that all political promises are inherently false, but that the nature of government and politics often makes such promises difficult to keep. In many cases, the needs and desires of the ruling class take precedence over the welfare of the people.
It is time to recognize that political promises are a smokescreen, a means of pacifying the masses and maintaining the status quo. It is time to question the very notion of government and consider alternative solutions that go beyond the constraints and limitations of a government that consistently fails to deliver on its promises.
The reason I bring this up is because it’s been months since Biden “promised” clemency to the vulnerable few who are stuck in federal prison on a “marijuana possession” charge. He claimed that they will be pardoned and released this in a fact sheet ahead of the State of the Union address, as reported by Marijuana Moment:
The White House said in a fact sheet that the president would highlight “progress” on criminal justice issues during the speech, adding a section directly addressing tackling “marijuana and crack cocaine misconduct.”
“The criminalization of marijuana possession has turned too many lives upside down for behavior that is now legal in many states,” according to the government’s Safer America Plan factsheet. “While whites, blacks, and browns use marijuana in similar amounts, blacks and browns are jailed for it disproportionately.”
Biden’s pardon, which affected several thousand people for federal cannabis possession offenses, “removes barriers to housing, employment and educational opportunities,” it said.

But did it anyway? I think Paul Armentano hits the nail on the head in criticizing these claims in The Hill article.
Never before has an incumbent president openly acknowledged the failure of America’s nearly century-old experiment in cannabis prohibition — a policy about two-thirds of Americans now say should be repealed and nearly half of all US states have abolished. And never before has a president promised to use the office’s pardons powers to bring legal aid to so many victims of these failed policies.
The move was truly historic; So much so that Susan Rice, director of Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, recently tweeted hailing the announcement as one of the administration’s crowning achievements of 2022.
But despite this congratulatory brouhaha, an uncomfortable truth remains: None of the 6,557 Americans identified by the US Sentencing Commission as eligible for a presidential pardon have received it.
Disturbingly, about three months after Biden’s statement, the Justice Department’s website states, “The application for a pardon for simple possession of marijuana is not yet available.”

That doesn’t mean that “no one” benefited from Biden’s statements. After all, he is the President of the United States. In response to his claims, 24 states have begun enacting some reparations and criminal justice reforms.
From a federal perspective, however, nothing happened. They don’t even have a form to fill out to request the pardon. And that’s what I talked about at the beginning of this article.
How many times have we been “promised” during the campaign, only to be left with a check and a hurt anus a few months after the election? How many times have you failed your “candidates”?
Political promises are as empty as tumbleweed in a desert, and yet the people continue to vote for their elected officials despite repeated betrayals. What makes people vote for the same old song and dance over and over again? let’s explore
It is a known fact that the majority of people have no idea about politics. They’re too busy surviving in this world to notice what’s going on in the Halls of Power. This makes them vulnerable to being influenced by the most raunchy suit-and-tie snake oil salesman.
But it’s not just ignorance that keeps the masses in line. The idea of self-government can be a daunting prospect for some people, especially in a world where everything is controlled and ordered by a higher power. It’s easier to play along and go along with it, even if it means being oppressed and manipulated by the ruling class.
And then there’s the problem of limited choices. People feel like they are stuck between a rock and a hard place with no real options. They keep believing that their voice won’t make much of a difference anyway, so why bother?
At least that is the general opinion, although it seems that the whole world has some kind of “political opinion”. The fact is that the majority of people execute their political ideology on autopilot. They repeat the soundbites of their favorite candidates and believe they share the same value.
Why don’t politicians care about voters? It’s really easy. We are the product and the big corporations are the buyers. The politicians are just salesmen selling us to the highest bidder.
In this political game, politicians are the pawns and corporations are the puppet masters pulling the strings behind the scenes. Politicians are there to do the bidding of their corporate bosses, calm the masses and maintain the status quo.
It’s a vicious circle where politicians are bought and paid and voters are left out in the cold. The politicians don’t care about the voters because they have no reason to. They have their marching orders, and their only job is to carry them out.
The sad truth is that the political system is rigged and politicians are nothing more than well-dressed puppets dancing to the tune of their corporate masters. The needs and desires of the ruling class take precedence over the well-being of the people, and politicians are there to ensure it stays that way.
This is why Biden made such a big deal, and the entire mainstream news media machine came at him at once. But I knew nothing would change. Rather, this is the same “bread and circus” tactic the Romans used when people began to resent the ruling class riding its butt for too long.
Eventually, the pot pardons will be complete. However, don’t think for a moment that this is a priority. That was just a pacifier for the masses.
It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee, folks. Politicians don’t care about us because they don’t have to. We are nothing more than a commodity to be bought and sold, and the companies call the shots.
And while I know you’re feeling pretty down after this truth bomb, let me tell you how to escape this grim fate.
It’s time to step up to a new paradigm…we’ve got the technology!
It’s easy to feel like you’re just a tiny cog in a huge machine without really saying anything about what’s going on. But the truth is, you’re not just a cog. You are the one turning the wheel and you have the power to change the direction of the machine. The power is in your hands and it’s time to take control.
The individual has all the power, it’s just a matter of recognizing it. We were told again and again that our vote doesn’t matter, that the politicians do what they want anyway. But what we forget is that we have power over where we spend our money. The politicians give in to the dictates of the corporations, and the corporations are all about the bottom line. They want our money and they will do anything to get it.
So if you want to change society, the best way to do it is to change the way you spend your money. Stop buying products from companies notorious for their unethical practices and start supporting companies that align with your values. The more people do this, the more companies will be forced to change how they operate because they will lose money.
An alternative economy is absolutely necessary to balance the powers as the government has become heavily corrupted by the special interests of mega-corporations. The alternative economy gives people power back and allows them to make decisions based on their values and beliefs. By choosing to spend your money to support the causes you believe in, you are supporting an economy that is truly by, by and for the people.
The alternative economy is a space where people can trade goods and services with each other without the interference of big corporations or the government. It is a place where people can take control of their own economy and create a society that truly reflects their values and beliefs. This is the key to true economic democracy, where the people call the shots, not the corporations or the government.
In this new economy, people are free to trade what they have without having to worry about the middleman. You can buy and sell goods and services directly, and the profits stay with the community instead of being siphoned off by corporations. This is a model that has worked for centuries and it’s time to bring it back.
The bottom line is that the individual has all the power, and it’s time to start using it. We have the power to create an economy that truly reflects our values and beliefs, and it is time to start doing so. By choosing where we spend our money, we have the power to change the world and create a better future for ourselves and our children. With the rise of AI, we might be looking for a new way of doing things, a way for the “little guy” to compete with the Mega Monster Corps… but it takes you and me and how we spend our money to to achieve that happen.
