President Biden is slammed on both sides of the aisle over slow cannabis plans
There is a clear schism within the Democratic Party. On the one hand, there are a number of senators trying to get cannabis out of the Controlled Substance Act. And on the other hand – the president. A president who should actually be the exact opposite of President Donald Trump is pretty close to the orange threat in the approval ratings, however.
Nonetheless, Biden was seen as the answer to Trump, the party of the “progressives,” and while they have the most diverse cabinet in US history – which is not too difficult to achieve given the cabinets’ past – they still have absolutely nothing about them Decriminalization of cannabis. At the moment, according to some sources, the U.S. government will continue cannabis reform through the spring.
Biden – who pardoned a turkey this year – did absolutely nothing for the people he supposedly wanted to help. People could forgive him for not supporting cannabis based on the fact that he is now a million years old. Erase cannabis convictions ”.
Kamala Harris was touted as the “ace in the pocket” advocating cannabis. In fact, it probably only got a few votes because it is obviously committed to cannabis reform. But the moment the duo made it to the White House, they just dropped the cannabis shtick and jumped on the Covid bandwagon. They were much more interested in transrights and gay rights and so on – which isn’t bad to support – but they ignored the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have records because of something many can legally buy in their state.
There are approximately 1,000,000 transsexuals in the United States and their right to express themselves should be respected. This is something that people in the cannabis community have long understood – let it be.
But imagine if 600,000 transsexuals were arrested and prosecuted every year for simply being transsexual. When it comes to cannabis use, however, this is the statistic. Each year around 43% of all drug arrests are related to cannabis. There are 127 million people in the US who admit having smoked weed before. Essentially there are around 50-60 million regular users.
These people are discriminated against every day and if they are black or Hispanic they are more likely to be arrested. Nonetheless, everyone down the line is a target when it comes to cannabis – making it a problem that affects more people in general and should, in my opinion, be a priority in the White House as well.
However, Biden and Harris simply dodge any questions about their promises and continue to drum up the beat of “justice and inclusion” as they exclude over a hundred million people every day.
It turns out that the inaction of the Biden administration aroused anger on both sides of the political spectrum.
Take a step to the right …
From the GOP, Reps Dave Joyce and Don Young wrote a letter to Biden and Harris highlighting their inaction on cannabis reform.
Here is an excerpt from the letter as reported in the marijuana moment:
“As both legislatures continue to discuss the merits of various sensible proposals on cannabis reform and a complete end to federal prohibition, there is growing bipartisan support, your government’s absence in these debates and the lack of action which is inconsistent,” with previous statements that you have raised on the subject is of serious concern, ”Joyce and Young wrote to Biden and Harris. “Every day cannabis remains inflated, patients and researchers in the United States continue to lose access to life-saving therapies and data.”
“In addition, the Appendix I classification of cannabis leaves the US far behind many of our international partners and scientific competitors, including: Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Great Britain, Sweden, Malta and the Netherlands,” the letter said further. (Source)
If you are more conservative than the conservatives on cannabis – can you call yourself a progressive? Even more shocking, the vast majority of Americans believe that cannabis should be legal. It has become such a point of contention that it is a major contributor to the government’s decline in popularity.
It wasn’t just rights, however, that the Biden administration was critical of.
Take a jump to the left …
AOC also criticized the apparent lack of measures to delete criminal records. This is what she had to say on Twitter:
Biden now has to rely on his executive powers. So far he has delayed it and made too little use of it. He can do a tremendous amount in the areas of climate, student debt, immigration, cannabis, health care, and more.
Time is running out – we have to move and use alternative routes.
The fact is, cannabis is no longer a taboo subject. It’s gone mainstream and billions of dollars are being made. If the Biden administration can’t see this, they have more contact with the country than they’d like to admit. While they are doubling the Covid-19 protocols, the fact is that if you ignore cannabis reform, you are ignoring more than a hundred million people.
More importantly, break the promises you made to over a hundred million people campaigning. Even if this could only negatively affect your popularity now, how will it affect the next election cycle? Will people just give up on the Democratic Party altogether? As an outsider, I have seen how the Democratic party candidates force the establishment if their grassroots want something else.
If Democrats fail to take meaningful steps regarding cannabis in maintaining power, they could run into trouble in the next election cycle. Let’s see what spring has to offer.
