OnlyFans appoints Cannabis Industry Insider as CEO

Amrapali “Ami” Gan, 36, will serve as Chief Executive Officer of OnlyFans effective December 21, 2021, according to an announcement. Bloomberg first reported on the leadership change, and a representative from OnlyFans – the leading platform for adult subscription-based content creation – told the High Times, “We can confirm the appointment of Amrapali Gan as CEO.”

Gan comes with first-hand knowledge working in demanding industries, including the first restaurant of its kind to serve cannabis-infused food. Her appointment as CEO of OnlyFans is causing quite a stir in the East Asian media cycle. Why? OnlyFans, at the time of writing, has 180 million registered users – and the company says it pays out more than $ 5 billion annually to its two million content creators.

Prior to OnlyFans, Gan worked as a marketer in Mumbai, India, where she was born. She started at PepsiCo in 2007 as part of the Marketing Leadership Program and worked at Quest Nutrition as Head of Brand Communications and for Red Bull Media House with a focus on Activation & Communications.

Most recently, however, Gan worked with Andrea Drummer and others as VP of Marketing and Communications to unveil the historic, first-of-its-kind restaurant, The Original Cannabis Cafe in West Hollywood, California, formerly known as the Lowell Cafe. The cafe had CBD, THC, or both in every dish, with an emphasis on highlighting the benefits of cannabis for personal wellbeing. It was the first stationary cannabis-infused restaurant to mirror other cafe projects claiming similar “first” titles.

OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely will hand the reins to Gan as Stokely prepares to “pursue new ventures”. He is ready to change gears when he steps back from his role.

“Ami is deeply passionate about the OnlyFans business and I am handing over the baton to a friend and colleague who has the vision and drive to help the organization realize its tremendous potential,” said Stokely. “OnlyFans is still a new company and Ami brings fresh energy and reflects who we are as a company.”

Gan served as OnlyFans’ chief marketing and communications officer after joining the team in 2020 and worked closely with Stokely. Ami is taking over this role from Stokely, who has been at the helm since the company was founded in London in 2016. He will continue to support OnlyFans as a consultant on this change in leadership.

“I am proud to take on this role. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our creator community to help them maximize control and monetize their content, ”said Gan. “I will lead an exceptionally talented team at OnlyFans that will provide a unique experience for our creators and fans. By combining the latest technology with creative capital, we have set ourselves the goal of being the most secure social media platform in the world. “

OnlyFans is a subscription-based social platform that focuses on typical adult material. The site includes artists and content creators and gives creators the ability to monetize the content they share.

The rapidly evolving nature of social media platforms means adaptability. Citing pressure from the banks that process payments on the website, OnlyFans announced in August that it would ban all sexually explicit content from the platform, but was quickly reversed the decision shortly afterwards. After all, many people made themselves a source of income with OnlyFans during the pandemic, including single mothers.

Goan’s new role will be to grow the company and advance its vision and commitment specifically to empowering content creators. As a woman of color, she also brings a spark of diversity to the OnlyFans management team.
