Moxie launches in Ohio | high times

Moxie, California’s first licensed cannabis brand, has launched its premium medical cannabis products in Ohio. Moxie is one of the original premium California-based brands known for pioneering extraction techniques, their award-winning concentrates, live resins, Liquid Moxie and delicious gummies, and for breeding world-renowned curated cannabis plant genetics. Moxie is now part of High Times, the original and authentic California-headquartered media and cannabis operator known for its Cannabis Cup competition.

In Ohio, Moxie has partnered with Green Investment Partners and its operator Rooted Management Services, led by Gabe Perlow, Matt Borders, Cody Boyer and Ray Boyer, and pioneered the launch of the brand with PurePenn in Pennsylvania and Organic Remedies MO in Missouri Moxie and with Moxie’s subsidiary during his time in the Michigan medical market.

Green Investment Partners (GIP) and Rooted Management Partners have spent the past year transitioning the Company’s operations to Rooted’s industry-leading practices, including capital investments to improve GIP’s cultivation and processing operations, while concurrently introducing new genetics, including Moxie genetics , was introduced into the operation of GIP. GIP has also expanded its processing operations to increase production of concentrates, vape cartridges and gummies for the Moxie brand. Moxie’s premier indoor flower will be available in Ohio in fall 2023.

Rooted will be introducing a new product called Caviar Dots to the Ohio medical market under the Moxie brand. Caviar Dots will be available in Ohio in July. Caviar Dots is a potent blend of Ground Flower, Delta-9 THC Oil and Keef designed to enhance the patient experience regardless of mode of consumption, to add potency and flavor to even the dullest of other products.

Moxie, GIP, and Rooted’s approach aims to take Ohio’s craft cannabis offering to the next level by offering patients high-quality products at affordable prices.

“I took a while [Rooted] approximately a year to make the necessary capital improvements, implement its standard operating procedures, and expand GIP facilities to the necessary scale required to operate a world-class cannabis production facility. In parallel with these efforts, we have worked diligently to introduce new Moxie genetics, as well as those from GIP’s Eden’s Trees franchise, which will allow us to offer Ohio patients the most respected and sought-after cannabis products,” said Gabe Perlow, operator of the GIP facilities and former CEO of PurePenn, which manufactured Moxie products in Pennsylvania.

Perlow also stated, “The key to our success is our emphasis on quality and consistency at an affordable price. We make the type of products that we, as patients and caregivers, want for ourselves and our families.”

Perlow and his team appear to have perfected the model for multi-state operations after successful deployments in Pennsylvania and most recently Missouri as part of Organic Remedies-Missouri.

“We replicate the same model at each location, our facilities are designed or remodeled in Ohio’s case with the same training, equipment and culture. Culture is key to our success, with values such as patient wellbeing, trust, respect, integrity, collaboration, innovation and commitment to excellence to name a few. We recruit by these values and maintain these expectations across the team, bottom-up and top-down. We recreate the same successful workflow using the same standard workflows and the same materials and equipment that have produced excellent results in other markets. We’ve taken the guesswork out of operations with replicated results across multiple states,” said Perlow.

GIP’s flowering and processing products are managed by managers who have been trained in and drawn on from other markets associated with Rooted Management Services to ensure the genetics are cultivated in a manner that ensures the highest possible level of consistency and potency. By controlling the cultivation of the plant material used in our products and replicating the same model through the involvement of team members and executives from existing facilities, the Moxie and Eden’s Trees brands avoid many of the pitfalls faced by new or inexperienced manufacturers.

While the business model ensures consistency, the Rooted Management Services leadership team ensures only the highest quality cannabis products are manufactured for the Moxie brand.

Perlow explained, “It’s not about coming in and making a quick buck for us. We have the business experience and want to build successful brands and strong companies, but we are also very passionate about this factory and the products we produce. Being medical patients and caregivers ourselves, we’ve seen the amazing benefits of the plant firsthand. As lovers of these products, we appreciate that cannabis-based medicines can provide a pleasurable experience while providing relief from serious medical conditions. We bring a lot of passion to the business and the products we make and take pride in serving Ohio patients. Our management team and employees share the same enthusiasm, enthusiasm, passion, pride and commitment to producing quality, affordable products.”

GIP and Rooted Management Services aim to be what we call “competitors” with other licensed operators (competitors working together to build a highly compliant industry while serving Ohio’s patients) and work with pharmacy partners, to ensure retail teams are optimally informed and educated as much as possible about what Moxie and Eden’s Trees offers and the benefits to partner pharmacies and Ohio patients. According to Perlow, the company takes pride in the products it makes and wants its retail partners to be equally excited about what it can offer Ohio patients.
