Run through the undergrowth to lay a path. That’s a little bit all it’s about. For this reason, projects like joints and moviesa movie review site that you probably don’t know stands out for its valuable character: There are data, there are solutions.
Since October 2018, Lucas Pailetteno, student of audiovisual arts and film buff, has the noble task of recommending movies for smoking churro.

“The Instagram account was created primarily to give a home to the stills I take from the movies I watch. If there is any interesting dialogue or image I want to remember, I take a screenshot and archive it. I have an external drive full of pictures of what I’ve seen over the last 5 years. I am something like a digital accumulator“, tells the manager of Porro y Pelis El Planteo.
Later, the young man began to loosen up about writing reviews, and from there, using this new skill, he began sending out more comprehensive recommendations. Porro y Pelis is both a personal assessment of his own curatorial work and an agenda of recommended films “must be seen if you’ve smoked”.
something personal and something collective
The feedback generated with people has become the main reason for the account’s persistence, he says. There is a Telegram group that always talks about everything and nothing. “It brought me closer to many beautiful people from the artistic environment and it’s something that happened by itself,” he says.
“I like that without a strict rule for what I upload, People write to me and say, “This is a film for Porro and Pelis.” It’s like a trademark of what I share and love. Although I decide which films it is Again, I see it as something collective“.

To configure your recommendations, Pailletteno strives for the central axes of the films to have dreamlike, surreal, psychedelic undertones or simply be narratively experienceable.
“I look for movie dates everywhere: books, letterboxed lists, IMDb, or recommendations people send me. With Porro y Pelis it doesn’t matter how many awards he has won, nor do I focus so much on the actors’ careers.‘ he completes.

With a simple and dynamic style, The recommendations provide insight into the film’s context, visuals, and plot.
He explains it: “Art is everything connected. It’s a great network. I’m also looking at these links: Which author, song or thought did the film lead me to?. I also try to approach the recommendation as if I were telling a friend who isn’t particularly familiar with the language of cinema or its world.
The Film Cycle
These days the project Porro y Pelis have entered the cosmos of mobile phones and are already preparing a new cinema meeting at the Cine Club Lucero. In the House of María María, the cannabis film cycle by El Planteo currently on standby, Porro y Pelis complements and enriches the menu with Audition, the Japanese psychological horror thriller by master Takashi Miike.

“Seeing it on the big screen enhances it. “It starts out as a romantic drama, but it just kind of sucks as time goes on,” he enthuses. Audition is the seventh screening of Porro y Pelis and coming soon will be Richard Linklater’s Waking Lifea rotoscoping that gets caught up in philosophical and existential questions.
Evidence of cannabis cinephilia

“It’s a nice activity, and I recently published the REPROCANN, so I’m more motivated. Now I’ll start with the famous living soil and its process,” reveals the culture activator.
And how do you derive marijuana with your movie recommendations? “Marijuana enhances our senses and perceptions, and cinema is a vast universe that can feed us with ideas, experiences, and revelation.”

In his reviews, Pailletteno plays what he calls “Al Bong,” an imaginary bong into which he introduces various elements found in the film, be it an audio or visual gag, a metaphor, or a cultural reference.
“It kind of reminds me of the book Where’s Wally, where you’re not just looking for Wally, you’re looking for other situations to look for. Aside from the range of films I do for Porro and Pelis, I feel that each film is an invitation to put it to the test a few times“.
Projects and more projects
Pailetteno is currently creating a YouTube channel with which he will expand his content and bring it into audiovisual format. Next to, He is preparing a newsletter in which he will talk about cinema and collaborate with various artists and talents. And he even dreams of organizing his own film festival or short film competition.
“And of course, I want to look for more rooms to put projections togethermy grain of sand so that the cinema is on the street,” he concludes.
