Massachusetts artists represent their state with weed rolling trays

To say that Massachusetts people are proud would be an understatement. Bay Staters tell you stories about the beautiful geography, courage, and close community of Massachusetts, and the artists who hail from here are no different.

Leafly had the opportunity to (virtually) meet with the five artists who are part of our latest Rolling Tray Collab. Here’s what they all had to say about creating and being in great condition.

Adam O’Day

Adam’s reflection and introspection are evident when looking at his work. Familiar places are brought to life with a mix of colors that brings the energy of a place to the canvas.

He describes his inspiration in two categories: observational and emotional. “The inspiration comes from life, the things that I see that I want to challenge myself to capture with traces of color. And then I take what I’ve learned from observation and apply it to my more imaginative series. ”

Adam is a lifelong artist based in Massachusetts and a believer in the power of community. He tells us, “Being an artist from Massachusetts means we work hard and treat it like a team sport. You can’t do this alone. “

Ambrojah Williams

Ambrojah brings the heat with undisturbed, uncompromising feminist themes and feminine bodies. To create these incredible works, Ambrojah said, “It’s all about setting the mood.” And setting the mood that sets it – with everything from candles, good music and sometimes a little bit of the good good to get you in to adapt to their creative process.

As a self-proclaimed Boston girl, she loves the city for its cultural melting pot. “Art contributes to the city’s cultural energy. It brings people together on a small scale. It’s down to the little details, be it the brick walls, museums or great schools. It’s small and everyone is connected. “

Chris DeLorenzo

Rolling tray by Chris DelorenzoCustom made rolling tray by Chris DeLorenzo for Leafly

Chris brings a work ethic that shines through his art. The details and the colors leave no stone unturned to portray his artistic energy. He believes the tough but rewarding moments as an artist never stop. He describes the lessons he has learned as difficult projects, but you can feel good about what he says in the end, “is usually any project”.

When Chris took the plunge to devoting himself to art full time, he realized the benefits and challenges of creating your own milestones and how there is nothing like art to break your ego.

When he looked at others he finally knew he had to do it himself and said, “If you are looking for someone else to template, you are really only going to find someone else and are therefore already behind.” For him, Massachusetts is different from any other place because it offers a true balance, be it in seasons or activities.

Mattaya Fitts

Mattaya brings the right feelings to her work, showing the feminine energy of all varieties and emotions, which makes sense for someone who has always been an artist. “Every artist says he’s always been an artist, but somehow it is,” she says.

She has been making art since its inception, and it wasn’t until long after she graduated that she decided to take art seriously. Mattaya found herself in a desk job and only got fulfillment from the sideline that it created.

Another Boston girl who describes herself through and through believes “to be a Boston artist to be part of a small artist community”. And no matter where in the world she goes, she will always represent the Boston art scene.

Daniel Benayun

Individual rolling tray by Daniel BenayunIndividual rolling tray by Daniel Benayun

Daniel brings determination and charm that shines through his work. As an artist since kindergarten, he was inspired by comics and old European advertising. His original works are really unique.

Benayun came to this distinctive style with the help of a mentor and a ba mitzvah, which provided him with the means for a trip to the Alps – and exposed him to a lifelong pursuit of art.

Daniel describes himself as “disenchanted with the gatekeeping of the art world” and believes that artists are going their own way in this new digital age. Although he doesn’t currently smoke THC, he uses CBD as part of his routine to get the sweet ZZZs he needs to keep making.
