Beginning July 1, adults in the Old Line State will be able to legally purchase cannabis. Nearly one hundred existing medical marijuana vendors throughout Maryland can offer flower, edibles, e-cigarettes and more to anyone over the age of 21.

While Maryland officials have been working hard to ensure the transition to recreational cannabis is as smooth as possible, residents and visitors alike have many questions.

Consumers can rejoice that Maryland law places very reasonable restrictions on possession.

Up to 1.5 ounces? You are perfectly clear. If you’re stopped by law enforcement with 1.5 to 2.5 ounces, the state only issues a $100 fine. Possession of more than 2.5 ounces may result in arrest.

Adults can additionally possess up to 12 grams of hashish.

Medical patients retain even milder ownership rights: 120 grams of marijuana and/or 36 grams of hash.

Will the stock hold?

We don’t think so. When state markets are introduced, demand usually exceeds supply. The fact that Maryland has several neighboring states where there is no legal sale (Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware) suggests that demand is even exceeding the average launch.

Use pre-order, pickup and delivery (medical use only) to avoid the rush. Take your time waiting in line and enjoy some history. We assume that the high demand with limited supply will continue for at least several months.
