Marijuana support has dropped in this state

In August, Arkansas state officials announced that a proposed ballot measure to legalize recreational cannabis had garnered enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot.

However, the State Board of Election Commissioners then rejected Responsible Growth Arkansas’ initiative. The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled in September that voters can decide whether to legalize recreational cannabis, overturning a decision by the Board of Election Commissioners.

While support among Arkansans was initially substantial, despite strong opposition from the state governor and conservative officials trying to persuade voters to say “NO” to the cannabis legalization initiative, the mood is changing as halftime approaches .

A new poll by Talk Business & Politics-Hendrix College found support has fallen, with about 51% of respondents saying they support the cannabis measure. On the contrary, the number of those who oppose it is increasing, as shown by 37% of the poll respondents who said they opposed the cannabis policy reform, Marijuana Moment reported.

In addition to Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) and US Sentinels Tom Cotton (R-AR) and John Boozman (R-AR), who tirelessly urge voters to vote against the legalization measure, David Couch, the attorney behind the medical marijuana amendment of the state, is also working to thwart efforts to legalize recreational cannabis.

Jerry Cox, executive director of the church’s Family Council Action Committee, recently revealed that the committee has distributed about half a million flyers undermining marijuana activists’ efforts. Couch is currently touring the state, meeting with church groups, chambers of commerce, and other groups and organizations opposed to the proposed marijuana policy change.
