Marijuana is more popular than politicians in this state

Marijuana is an issue that is slowly breaking away from political parties and politics. In Texas, a new poll shows that legalizing the drug is more popular than the state governor or the country’s president, covering political parties and typical blue versus red arguments.

Marijuana Moment was the first to report these results, which were released ahead of the state’s May 24 primary runoff election and conducted by the University of Texas.

The university poll reached over 1,232 registered voters in the week of May 2nd. The results showed that an overwhelming majority of Texans approve of medical marijuana (83%), while a smaller but still significant percentage approve of its recreational use (60%).

A closer look reveals that support for the drug has not been heavily influenced by political parties; 91% of Democrats supported medical marijuana, while 74% of Republicans did the same. 85% of independents agreed.

Aside from political parties influencing opinions on cannabis, the survey collected a variety of information on various political issues, including people’s opinions of their governor and political leaders. It turned out that medical and recreational cannabis was more popular than Gov. Greg Abbott and Gov. Dan Patrick, neither of whom have marijuana among their priorities.

The poll found that medical and recreational marijuana is also more popular than political figures like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Ted Cruz, and others.
