Marijuana and your golf game

Who would have thought that the fastest growing sport was golf? The contemporary and inclusive definition of golf includes various forms of “grassless” participation in which people swing clubs and hit balls at real and/or virtual targets. Golf is already a relaxing game, but how much more relaxing could the activity be if you smoked a little green on the green? These days, more and more golfers are admitting to playing a round on the golf courses. So is there a benefit to marijuana and your golf game?

Golfers are known to love CBD products. According to a survey, 29% of the top 125 golfers use CBD during and after golf. However, CBD is not the only cannabinoid that golfers use regularly. More and more are consuming on the local course.

One of the ways marijuana helps is that cannabis is known to help with inflammation. This is crucial for activities that involve fast movements and twisting motions.

But as far as golf scores go. Golf Digest’s The Loop found that the answer might surprise you.

Golf Digest’s The Loop wrote an article about three golfers and their handicaps. The Loop divided the three men into three categories: advanced, amateur and casual. They led the trio through three exercises that every golfer has done before. Driving range, closest to the pin and putting. First, the men were asked to complete the exercises fasting to get an idea of ​​their various abilities.

“When you smoke cannabis, you may find that you relax and performance even improves,” says Dr. Ara Suppiah, a sports medicine doctor, in the video. He later adds, “You could also see them reaching a point where they don’t care.”

The results confirm the good doctor hypothesis. The golfers were tested after smoking cannabis in amounts of 6 mg, 18 mg, 34 mg and 50 mg. In the 6 to 34 mg range, we observed that most golfers experienced an improvement in their swing as their muscles relaxed and they were able to focus on producing force. As you might expect, putting steadily decreased as each golfer got higher.

The Loop believes that at 18 mg, golfers have found a sweet spot where qualities such as hand-eye coordination, energy and concentration have not been sacrificed in the name of relaxed nerves, muscles and mood.
